The capital city of Binh Thuan province, Phan Thiet has an extensive shoreline with a hot and mostly dry sub-equatorial climate. The province is located in the tropical monsoon area with two distinct seasons and is renowned for its endless sunshine and fresh ocean breezes. 
If you consider shopping to be an integral part of your holiday, the Central Market is the main place for shopping, open from morning until late afternoon. Here you can find clothes, food and useful things for your daily needs. There are some souvenirs to be found, but you'll have to peruse and use your hunting skills. There are little gift shops in the Novotel Coralia Resort and the Victoria Phan Thiet. However, it's probably best to leave your shopping for Ho Chi Minh City. 
New Year’s Day: is celebrated with fireworks, dancing, eating and general festivities. 
This tower can be found on the Ca Ty River and was designed by Laotian Prince Suphanouvong, who was Nha Trang Public Works Bureau's principal engineer. Construction started in 1928 and was finished in 1934. In those days the tower served as the town's main supply of water. An octagonal water reservoir tops the tower, five meters high and nine metres across. It is also the symbol of Binh Than province. 
The nearest airport to Phan Thiet is in Ho Chi Minh City, 200kms northeast. Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport, also known as its airport code SGN, is Vietnam's biggest international airport and more international flights land here than in Hanoi, the capital city. The main service providers at the airport are Vietnam Air, Pacific Airlines, Air France, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM, Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airways, Qantas and Singapore Airlines. The airport offers regular flights to 18 destinations in Asia and Europe. 
Visas are required by most nationalities, except for nationals of Denmark, Finland and Sweden for stays of up to 15 days. Tourist visas allow stays of one month, but can usually be extended for another month, at extra cost, in bigger towns. Passports must be valid for at least one month after expiration of the visa. Visa regulations are subject to frequent change and it is advisable to contact your local Vietnamese embassy or consulate before travelling. The Binthuan Tourist Office is operated by the government and situated on 15, Nguyen Du Street in Phan Thiet city (Tel:+84 90 879 6914).
