Airports

The airport in the centre of the city that previously provided domestic air connections was closed as of May 2004 and the new Cam Ranh airport situated 35kms south of the city took over as the chief airport. Currently only domestic flights operate to and from the airport with Vietnam Airlines providing the services.

International visitors can fly into Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh airport then take a connecting domestic flight to Cam Ranh airport. Alternatively, visitors can go from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh to Dalat airport then travel by road from Dalat to Nha Trang.

Services at the airport are adequate but are somewhat limited due to the airport’s size. Ground transportation options include buses, taxis and hire car.

Public Transport

Nha Trang can be reached by train from both Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi with journey times of 12 and 20 hours respectively, both are sleeper trains and tickets are best bought well in advance of the proposed journey. It is also possible to reach Nha Trang by open-tour bus (tickets can be bought at all branches of Sin Café) from Hoi An (10 hours) and Ho Chi Minh (8 hours).

For more information please visit Nha Trang by Train.

Once in the city, there’s a fairly reliable public bus service that operates modern, air-conditioned vehicles across the most popular city districts. Alternatively, there are regular taxis, motorbike taxis and cyclos available; each mode of transportation comes with its own caveats so be careful when deciding what the best option for your journey is.
