Located in the Khanh Hoa Province of Vietnam, Nha Trang is a coastal town with 10kms of beach and an average daily temperature of 26°C. With a population of around 300,000, Nha Trang retains a small town ambience and its inhabitants are genuinely friendly and welcoming of the increasing numbers of tourists arriving there for holidays and short trips.

Perhaps not an ideal family destination, Nha Trang offers only a small selection of activities suitable for children. The Vinpearl amusement and water parks at the Sofitel resort, are the highlight and probably good for at least a full day if not two days of entertainment. The natural attractions of the town’s beaches are of course, also popular with the kids.

New Years Day: other than for business purposes, the changing of the year in the Gregorian calendar is given little observance by the Vietnamese. It is a national holiday but there are little in the way of celebrations.

Religious, historical and architectural treasures constitute the main entries on a list of must-sees for the city of Nha Trang with the Po Nagar Cham Towers arguably the most interesting place to visit.

The airport in the centre of the city that previously provided domestic air connections was closed as of May 2004 and the new Cam Ranh airport situated 35kms south of the city took over as the chief airport. Currently only domestic flights operate to and from the airport with Vietnam Airlines providing the services.
