Our stay was excellent. The rooms were quiet, had excellent views and were clean and tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was available and the buffet breakfasts were fantastic. Only downer was the huge price of the internet access and laundry, but their are pleanty of cheap internet cafe's in the area. You pay $80 p/n but a load of washing costs $30 a bit strange. Overall we loved our nights at the Melia...

This is the 2nd time I am staying in this hotel. Hotel is centrally located and easy for accessing various business centres. The food caters to various cuisines, including some good vegetarian food. The overall rates can be reviewed again for cheaper stay.

Very good massage and beauty center. I really like their body massage, head massage. I have also discovered there the "facial care": really great: one hour of facial care and facial massage. The price is not expensive and the massage service worth what you pay. I definitevely recommend the massage and beauty center. The sauna, spa and steam bath space is very nice and convenient. It was really a kind of "balneo" and "massage" therapy vacations for us. (and not expensive). The location is really good: in the middle of the old town with the old French colonial architecture, surrounded by good restaurants (just by walk: Indochina restaurant, "Quan An ngon" restaurant...) The only annoying moment is the bell service: very bad. When we arrive at the hotel, no bell man was there to help us with our big luggage. I have to go inside the hotel and request for a trolley!

Smoking area at breakfast was near the food section and you had to walk through the smoke to get to the food. The shower did not drain quickly/properly, therefore you were standing in water (ankle deep) whilst having a shower.

Rooms are nice, but nothing spoecial, more of a 4-star than the stated 5-star, very small, nondescript bathrooms. Good location, a few blocks from the lake, and a short taxi ride to most of the sites. Very quiet rooms despite the non-stop horn honking in Vietnam. Hotel has good facilities, including a casino, very small pool for the size of the hotel. I would give this hotel an average rating if not for the fantastic breakfast buffet shich elevates my rating to above average. A good, and unobtrusive staff and very clean rooms also. I would probably stay here again, if I return to Hanoi and the price is right.

The lighting in the room is too dim for comfortable reading. The location of hotel is good since it is near the Old Quarter. Many shops and food outlets are nearby.

Not a bad deal for the money paid. Quite convenient for the Old Quarter and easy walks to other areas of interest. The lighting in the rooms was really poor though, very very dim and dingy. However, we thought overal this was a pretty good deal for Hanoi as including breakfast and taxes it was just over $100 per night.

We checked in at eight o'clock in the morning after a 14 hours flight and have to pay half a day( 50 dollar) to get some sleep. Room was not clean at that moment. After a storm and flood in the city we entered very wet and dirty the hotel one evening brought by some Vietnamese friends on motorbikes, The Russian manager was not amused and treated us very unfriendly. When we changed clothes and entered the lobby again you could see him changing his opinion. For us too late. Further it a very nice hotel to stay, friendly local staff with good food. Easy to reach the centre.
