We stayed in Deluxe room in the top floor with balcony to the street. Room was very spacious, room height about 3m. Utmost clean. Despite street side, traffic noise was non-existent between 11PM and 6AM. Breakfast buffet was sumptuous. Try steam sauna with individual rooms for full body massage alongside the hotel, recommendable for whole family. Location is great, short walk from Hoa Kiem Lake, main post office, major department stores, pleanty of shops and good quality restaurants nearby. Reception staff, bell boys and outside guards were always very attentive and polite. Clientele is mixed...

An hotel of contrasts: well located (a few blocks from the Opera and Hoan Kiem lake), street noise from 6 AM to 11 PM, 2 flatscreen TVs in a suite but poor signal reception. Has an appealing oldish style of its own, partly needs refreshing but excellent service. One Achille's heel: the breakfast buffet, invariably cold.

over-priced, awful service, no wifi in the so called suprior room, porter did not help guest but help the taxi driver against the guest, check out took 20 mins, room is utterly small with no space to turn around, extremely noisy. had to carry heavy suitcases to climb stairs as elevator did not reach the so called 'superior rooms'. front desk staff very arrogant and rude with no smile or any mindset to help guests. treated prepaid guests very badly since they knew you won't escape as you have already paid. one of worst hotels that I stayed among 130 countries that I have visited. please avoid Hoa Binh unless what you want is frustration, dissapointment and being ripped off...

It's an old hotel, catering largely to French clientel. The primary restaurant menu is French, expensive, and limited. Be sure and ask for the Vietnamese menu. Avoid the massage service offered by the hotel. The masseuses really don't seem to know what they're doing. The only reason I stayed for a full hour is because it's a pre-pay system. And in spite of not knowing what they're doing, the masseuses aren't shy about asking for a tip (apparently, the hotel keeps all the pre-paid money? Or so I was told). Finally, Internet access costs $3 per day. Once you ask for it, they assume you want it every day for the rest of your stay. If you do not want it for the rest of your stay, be sure and tell the front desk! In sum, my stay there was ok. Were I to go again, I'd probably look for another hotel. I'm sure I could find something as nice for much less, and one that doesn't charge extra for Internet access as well.

Excellent location. It must have been a lovely hotel some 20-30 years ago. Nice staff, but sometimes problem of communication. We will come back.

This hotel is overpriced. i think there may be better hotels in hanoi for the price we paid. The furnishings were older and the placement space was awkward.

Very nice place with good breakfast (although it's virtually the same everyday). It's location is easily accessible to the Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarters, Hanoi's popular tourist destinations, about 10 minute's walk I reckon. The rooms were very nice and clean, and service was good. Overall good place!

This is a very high quality establishment in an excellent part of Hanoi. Nearby are fine restaurants and good shopping. The wonderful Opera House is an easy walk away. The breakfast was superb. I strongly recommend this hotel.

The staff at the front desk did not want to help us to book tours etc, Everybody else in Vietnam realised that this would actually help them earn money and would be worth their while for the inconvience of actually talking with their guests. We paid for grossly overpriced items at the shop and internet on slow computers.

I felt the suite was very spacious but felt there is a need for renovation as it is rather aged. Or at least a good cleaning up. front desk is quite helpful. quite easy to get around town. alright for 3 star in Hanoi. it is convienient and has charm.

I recommend you to book the Deluxe Room well ahead of your trip. Look forward to staying again in Hoa Binh Hotel any time soon.
