Ventura city, in southwestern California near the Pacific Ocean, began life more than two centuries ago as a Spanish mission. Today the town is a surfers’ paradise. The Ventura County Fairgrounds, downtown, Mission San Buenaventura, museums, galleries, dining, and shops can all be enjoyed.
