The area where San Diego now sits was, for a long time, inhabited by the Kumeyaay people. The first European to arrive in the region was a Portuguese explorer by the name of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. Cabrillo claimed the bay and named the site San Miguel. In November 1602, Sebastian Vizcaino arrived with his flagship, theSan Diego, and claimed the bay for the Spanish Catholic saint, St Didacus, who is commonly referred to as San Diego.
Everybody who wants to is able to experience the thrill of jumping out of a plane at one of the numerous skydiving centres around the city. If you would rather keep your feet firmly on the ground, many of these centres allow spectators. Skydiving has rapidly increased in popularity over recent years. Many choose to jump for charity, while others simply jump out of a plane for fun. Whatever your motivation, it is a pure adrenaline rush, with birds eye views over the city guaranteed (providing you keep you eyes open!). All centres have professional, licensed instructors on hand to ensure a safe jump.
Buick Invitational: this is a popular event held at the nationally-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla. Every year, the event attracts some of the world’s top golfers and celebrities, as the esteemed first prize is fought over.
Tijuana can be found just 25kms south of downtown San Diego. The small town has undergone a complete revamp and is now offers excellent restaurants, shops and bars. The town is great for sampling Mexican life without the trip here taking up too much of your planned itinerary.
San Diego International Airport houses three terminals, which are connected by regular shuttle buses. The airport is the main gateway to the city and one of the main gateways into the state. It services flights from around the world as well as many domestic routes.
San Diego's tourist areas are generally very safe and the city's crime rate is low compared to many other US cities, but some urban areas can pose safety threats. Avoid deserted areas at night and don't venture into public parks after dark unless there's a concert or similar occasion that will attract a crowd. In Balboa Park, stay on designated walkways and away from secluded areas, by day and at night.

This month's lucky winner is Mr. Laith Addabbas who lives in Jordan.
