Visitors arriving in San Antonio by air will be routed through the San Antonio International Airport. With an annual throughput of more than eight million passengers, the airport owes most of its traffic to US discount airline, Southwest Airlines. The vast majority of flights to and from San Antonio International are domestic, connecting to regional capitals across the country. However, there are several flights available to Mexico City and Cancun.
Airport facilities are broad here in Texas’ second-largest city. A microbrewery and grill specialises in craft beers, while the food court has numerous fast-food establishments. Shopping boutiques are well located throughout both terminals. A complimentary shuttle bus transfers passengers to the bus station, while an express shuttle heads directly for the city centre. Hire cars and taxis are also available.
San Antonio is well connected to other destinations in Texas and the rest of the US. Most visitors either hire a car at the Arrivals hall of the airport or drive themselves to San Antonio from Austin via I-35 or from either Houston or El Paso via I-10. Meanwhile, I-37 connects San Antonio with Corpus Christi to the south.

It is also possible to arrive in San Antonio by bus (via Greyhound) or by train (via Amtrak). However, these two modes of transportation are less desirable as they involve long travel times and nominal savings (if any) over travel by car.
The city itself is served by public buses including bus number 7, a sightseeing line which travels between the main attractions and museums at a fixed one-way fare. Discount fares are available for children, students and senior citizens with relevant identification.
