International Transport

Salt Lake City International Airport is the ideal gateway to Salt Lake City with international flights connecting many worldwide capitals, while regional airlines service the state of Utah and the surrounding states.

Featuring three main terminals and six concourse areas, airlines usually board from their designated terminal but this can be subject to change. Information desks can be found in the lobby of Terminal 1 and near the entrance of Concourse C in Terminal 2.

Facilities at the airport include amenities for disabled passengers, a good selection of airport cafés, restaurants, snack bars, fast-food outlets, several full-service airport banks, airport information desks and ATM cash points and shops.

Transportation options from the airport include taxis and limousines, which pick passengers up outside the Baggage Claim area and buses, operated by the Utah Transit Authority and Greyhound, which provide an inexpensive and convenient way to travel into the city. It is also possible to rent a vehicle at the airport and drive yourself to the city, with Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, Dollar and National represented at the airport.

The economy parking lot is located south and west of the terminal buildings. The airport provides free shuttle service between the parking lot and the terminals. The shuttles run every five minutes. The daily/hourly car park is located directly south-west of the terminals. Level 1 is restricted to hourly parking only.

Public Transport

An inter-county fixed route bus system that runs 135 routes and a fleet of more than 450 buses is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. Throughout the ski season, bus services run to all the major ski resorts outside of Salt Lake City. Within the designated fare-free area of downtown Salt Lake City, buses carry passengers without charge, while Greyhound Bus offers interstate connections to most major US cities.

The TRAX light rail system runs on the 15 mile Sandy-Salt Lake line and the four mile university line, travelling from downtown Salt Lake City to the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. Trains depart every 10 to 30 minutes between 05:30 and 23:00, Monday to Friday, while on Saturdays services run until 01:00. There is no service on Sundays. For trips beginning on TRAX, day passes must be purchased at a ticket vending machine. The central area of downtown Salt Lake City is designated as fare-free and visitors can travel within this area free of charge.

Salt Lake City is also good hub to board longer distance rail routes, with all of Utah’s rail lines coming together in the Salt Lake-Ogden metropolitan area. Amtrak operates daily trains to and from destinations across the US, arriving and departing from its station on 340 South 600 West.
