Airports

For visitors arriving by air, Portland International Airport is conveniently located just 16 kilometres from downtown. The airport services all of the main American airlines to and from most major cities around the country. There are also some flights arriving and departing to European, Asian and Pacific cities on a daily basis.

Portland International Airport has all the modern amenities you would expect including restaurants, bars, duty-free shopping, banking facilities and club lounges. There are car-hire offices available as well as taxis and bus shuttle services to the city. The airport hotel is situated close by, which is convenient for early or late flights.

Public Transport

Portland is well connected to other cities throughout the United States with Greyhound bus services to Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle and Minneapolis. It is also possible to reach Vancouver in neighbouring Canada. There is a plethora of car hire companies available, which is a great option for touring the surrounding areas of Portland.

The downtown district of Portland is made up of 300 square blocks and the public transportation network in this zone is completely free. The nostalgic Portland streetcar is an enjoyable way to travel between River Place, Nob Hill and the Pearl District. Metered taxicabs are readily available but do not cruise the streets, so you will need to phone for one to come.
