Portland is blessed with a vast array of interesting attractions which offer guests an educational and enjoyable time. The Oriental Garden located in the city centre is one of the best displays of Japanese fauna outside of Asia. The Skidmore District is home to the fantastic weekend market every Saturday with locally created Oregon handicrafts available.

Oriental Gardens
Situated in the downtown district of Portland is the incredible and impressive Japanese Garden, which is the best display of authentic Japanese fauna in North America. The five-acre area takes up an entire city block and includes a small lake, bridges and winding paths that carve through the stunning gardens. The Oriental Gardens is a beautiful attraction that should not be missed.

Pioneer Courthouse Square
Positioned in the heart of the downtown district, the Pioneer Courthouse Square is a stunning outdoor area, which is perfect for spending a few hours, having lunch and looking at the works of art. Locals refer to the spot as “Portland’s living room” and it is easy to see why. Phone: +1 503 223 1613.

Mount St Helens
In the close-by Mount Hood area, the magnificent volcano of St Helens can be viewed. The active volcano last blew its top in 1980, which was a devastating display of Mother Nature’s force. Access to the volcano is limited but great views from the information and visitors’ centre can be enjoyed.

Weekend Market
The weekend market in Portland is held every Saturday of the year with hundreds of artists and craftspeople selling hand-made goods. Positioned directly in the middle of the Skidmore District, the market has a plethora of entertainment, food and bargains. The market is the perfect place to pick up some Oregon souvenirs and gifts for back home.

Willamette Falls
Willamette Falls was the first major settlement in Oregon during the 1800s. The powerful falls are impressive, falling into the steep gorge which connects to the waterways of Portland city. Today the town is a walk back in time with historic museums displaying the ways of the past and offering an educational look at how the region began.
