Philadelphia was once the nation's capital and is also where America declared its independence on the 4th of July, 1776. It is an incredibly historic city, boasting plenty of old charm while also being a major commercial hub and thriving metropolis.
Philadelphia offers children a wealth of activities to ensure they enjoy their holiday as much as their parents. When you have finished exploring aquariums and zoos, turn your attentions to the museums where you will find a whole host of weird and wacky displays on offer. If your children prefer to be outside, the city is home to a number of parks and gardens which will enable young ones to run around and expel some of their excess energy while you are able to sit back and relax.

Mummers Parade: this New Year's Day parade sees performers take to the streets and entertain the young and old. You will find comedians, musicians and artists, which can all be enjoyed while you are munching on a hot dog and a soft Philly pretzel.
Philadelphia is a city shrouded in historical importance. It is the birthplace of the United States and many of the most popular tourist attractions relate to this. The world-famous Liberty Bell can be found outside the equally famed Independence Hall. There is a wealth of architectural wonders and prominent buildings to see, which should not be missed off any holiday itinerary.

Philadelphia International Airport can be found 11kms outside downtown Philadelphia and serves a number of domestic and international airlines. It is the main gateway into the city, seeing major airlines arriving and departing every day. It contains five large terminal buildings, each with their own range of amenities.
