Central Florida Film Fest: Close-up & Personal

The Central Florida Film Festival is held from 31 August 2 September at West Orange Cinema, Orlando, and is geared towards educating, promoting and showcasing film media talent and exposing visitors to its cultural importance. This year the festival will showcase 80 films from around the world, along with seminars and an awards show to help inspire budding film makers. Bob Cook, executive director of the film festival, will also be accessible throughout the entire event to answer any questions visitors and guests may have.

The reason people attend a film festival is to see the films, and the Central Florida Film Festival does not disappoint. Spread over three nights during Labour Day weekend, the fest will show feature films, student shorts, documentaries, and hold discussion panels with actors and directors, among other events.

Some of the highlights of the weekend will be a ‘Civil War Opening Night’ featuring guest speakers, followed by a screening of the feature film War Flowers starring Christina Ricci and Tom Berenger, with a Q&A after the movie from director Serge Rodnunsky. Some of the student shorts shown over the weekend include: Incest! The Musical, Marilyn Monroe in New York, Box Forts, Shoot the Moon and Bottom of the Ninth. One of the biggest draws of the festival is the short film entry When You Find Me directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and produced by her father, Hollywood heavyweight, Ron Howard.

The festival offers a special ticket price of US$25, which includes all day admission to the three festival theatres, one medium popcorn, one medium soft drink and three ballots to register your vote for the 'Audience Choice Award'
