Nashville Auto Fest: Taking place at the Tennessee State Fairground every January, the Nashville Auto fest has a number of car related activities including a car show and car corral with cash prizes for show car winners.

February
 

Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville: since its inception 16 years ago, the Antiques and Garden Show has become a popular feature of the Nashville events calendar, bringing together experts on landscape gardening, antiques and art. The festival includes some special lectures and a young collectors section.

March
 

Andrew Jackson Birthday Celebration: on 15 March each year, there are a number of small events to mark the birthday of Andrew Jackson; Tennessee’s first congressman and seventh US president.

Tin Pan South: this festival usually takes place at the end of March with around 70 shows over five nights showcasing the work of a range of songwriters, many local to Nashville.

April
 

Nashville Film Festival: takes place at the Regal Green Hills Stadium and usually offers a music film section due to Nashville’s association and love of music. The festival attracts a good range of films and a number of local and national stars.

May
 

Tennessee Crafts Fair: The Tennessee Association of Craft Artists is a non-profit organisation founded in 1965 to promote crafts in the state. Each year they showcase the work of their members at a spring fair taking place in Centennial Park.

June
 

CMA Music Festival: The four-day country music festival is one of Nashville’s most popular annual events with daily and nightly concerts at a number of venues, including riverbank concerts during the day. There are also opportunities to meet stars at the Nashville convention centre.

American Artisan Festival: taking place during June, in Centennial Park, this festival showcases a range of glassworks, furniture, clocks, jewellery and clay works. There is also some live music and food available throughout.

July
 

Independence Day: Nashville celebrates Independence Day on 4 July with a number of events on the banks of the Cumberland River in Riverside Park.

Celebration of Cultures: this is an interesting festival taking place on the second Sunday of July to celebrate the cultural diversity of the area through music, dancing, food, story telling, and many more family related activities.

August
 

Nashville Shakespeare Festival: this festival was established in 1988 to educate Tennessee’s people to the work of Shakespeare through a number of bold and interesting interpretations of his work. The plays take place in Centennial Park during August and September.

Miss Martha’s Ice Cream Crankin: held on the first Sunday in August at the First Presbyterian Church of Nashville, this is an event popular with all. At a time of year when it is always hot and dry in the city the lawn of the First Presbyterian Church invites people to sample dozens of types of homemade ice cream.

September
 

African Street Festival: taking place in September at Tennessee State University, the African Street Festival attracts around 100,000 people interested in learning more about African American and African culture.

Tennessee State Fair: this fair has been entertaining the people of Nashville for years located on the 117 acres Nashville Fairground. There are a huge variety of activities here.

Australian Festival: not what you’d expect to find in deepest Tennessee, but this festival has built a good following over the last 10 years, with exhibitions and displays covering all aspects of Australian life.

October
 

International Bluegrass Music Awards: celebrates and promotes Bluegrass music, with its roots from English, Irish, and Scottish immigrants to the southern United States.

Southern Festival of Books: takes place in downtown Nashville every October. The festival is free and there are usually plenty of authors around to sign copies of their books.

December
 

Festival of the Holidays: takes place at the Cheekwood Botanical Garden in the run up to Christmas each year with a range of festive events and activities.

Dickens of a Christmas: is a re-creation of a Victorian Christmas in the town of Franklin. There are a number of different activities and there is a good festive atmosphere.
