South Beach Film Festival: showcases both local and non-resident film directors who debut their latest works at the Colony Theatre.

The Great Sunrise Balloon Race and Festival: features dozens of massive hot air balloons which ascend from Homestead Air Force Base.

Goombay Festival: is held in honour of the local Bahamian culture, with lots of fun events in and around Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park.

Independence Day: celebrations are held all over the city with music, fireworks and laser-light shows. Many of the main festivities take place at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.

Miami Reggae Festival: brings the island sounds of reggae to the city with some of Jamaica’s hottest bands performing at venues around Miami.

Festival Miami: involves three weeks of performing and visual arts events organised by the University of Miami and held around Coral Gables.

Hispanic Heritage Festival: features a number of lively and educational events which highlight Latin American history and culture.

Caribbean-American Carnival: is another of Miami’s lively Carnival-style events featuring calypso bands which play in Bicentennial Park.

Columbus Day Regatta: is Florida’s largest water sports event, culminating in a boat race which commemorates the historic voyage by Columbus.

Harvest Festival: celebrates southern Florida’s agricultural traditions with music, homemade crafts and historic re-enactments which take place at the Miami Fair Expo Center.

December
 

Indian Arts Festival: celebrates the local Native American culture of Florida with an emphasis on the arts.

King Mango Strut: is Miami’s most popular New Year’s Eve celebration where people dress up in costumes and parade through Coconut Grove.

The Orange Bowl Parade: is the climax of the New Year’s Eve celebrations and features floats, marching bands and the crowning of the Orange Bowl Queen.
