International Transport

Located just a short distance from the city centre, Jacksonville International Airport is the chief gateway into Jacksonville, providing transportation to and from the city for more than five million passengers per year.

The airport operates a single terminal that deals with both international and domestic arrivals and departures with Delta Airlines and AirTran Airways providing all flights. Destinations include major US cities as well as those in Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

There are excellent facilities to be found at Jacksonville International Airport which cover all essentials and also those aimed at making time spent by passengers in the terminal more comfortable. ATMs can be found in various locations while postal facilities are available in the airport’s business centre. For dining and refreshments, you’ll find popular names such as Burger King, Budweiser Brewhouse and Cinnabon, while for shopping, there’s a golf shop, book store, sunglass shop and more.

Ground transportation options include taxis, hotel shuttles, and shuttle buses. Passengers with reservations should check with their hotel to establish whether or not a free shuttle vehicle is provided; if not, then taxis can be found outside of the terminal building. The AIRJTA shuttle bus service provides connections between the airport and downtown destinations. The service can be accessed from the Express Shuttle booth outside the baggage reclaim area.

A total of six facilities are available for parking with options for both short and long stays. Immediately outside of the terminal, drivers will find the hourly garage, daily garage and daily lot, while somewhat further away but connected to the terminal by a free shuttle, are the economy lots 1, 2 and 3. A valet parking service is also available by calling +1 904 741 1005.

Public Transport

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) provides public transportation services in and around the city with downtown trolleys (buses) and the Skylink overhead rail system, offering coverage of most of the city’s most significant areas. For details of services, schedules and timetables, please call +1 904 630 3181.

The famous Greyhound Bus Company serves Jacksonville and provides services between neighbouring cities and also many situated further afield. For more information call them on: +1 800 231 2222 or visit their website at: www.greyhound.com/home.asp.

There are no intercity rail services, however a train station located on Clifford Lane in the northwest of the city, connects Jacksonville with other cities in Florida as well as other major US destinations.

Car rental companies located both at the airport and in the city itself, offer visitors the chance to see the city and its surroundings at their own leisure. Jacksonville is served by the I-95, I-295 and I-10, making it an easy city to reach from almost anywhere in the state.
