Clearwater is a relatively safe city with a low incidence of crime, especially against tourists; however, common street sense should be used. Pickpockets and petty theft sometimes occur in the downtown district as well as along the beach. It is advised to take care with your valuables to avoid any theft. Lockers are available for hire at the beach and should be used when swimming in the ocean. The beaches of Clearwater can be dangerous with strong undertows and rip currents, make sure to swim in the designated safety zones.

Clearwater and the surrounding area have an array of world-class facilities should any accident occur.
