Charlotte Airport is a fairly small single-terminal facility. There are two levels from where all departures and arrivals are serviced. International flights arrive from European cities and Canada while domestic flights are received from all across the US. There are a number of restaurants throughout the terminal as well as banking facilities, ATMs, shops, a business centre and information desks.
There is a public bus taking passengers into the city which departs every hour. The bus station can be found at the east end of the upper Ticketing level. There are also shuttle buses available as well as limousines. Taxis can be found outside the Baggage Claim area, while car hire can be found inside.

Public transport options in Charlotte consist of buses and taxis. There are no inner-city train services, with the only services being those to other cities in the state and beyond. Many visitors prefer to get around by hire car, with I-85 and I-77 connecting the city with neighbouring states. Greyhound buses run along these routes for those without private vehicles.
In Charlotte there is a free shuttle bus offering services throughout the city centre, although bus stops are limited so if you are not staying in the right area, these services will be of little use. The public buses offer over 40 routes into the city centre and throughout the suburbs. Travel is cheap with tickets available for one or two-leg trips and services are reliable.

Taxis are available throughout the city for both short trips and longer guided tours. Taxis are not metered but fares are standard and regulated so you should not get ripped off. You can either hail a taxi in the street or have your hotel book one in advance for you.

The Uptown district can be explored largely on foot or by bicycle but other areas may require the use of public transport. The light rail system is useful for trips from Uptown into the suburbs with discounts available for students, senior citizens and those that purchase unlimited use day passes. The Charlotte trolley runs between South End and Uptown and offers single trip fares at a fixed rate.
