
The airport is located 16km south of Baltimore and operates a single terminal which handles both international and domestic arrivals and departures. The terminal is a busy facility that sees around 20 million passengers per year.

The airport offers excellent passenger services and amenities which include essential financial facilities such as banks, ATMs and bureaux de change as well as facilities aimed at comfort and convenience such as shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. Facilities for disabled passengers are excellent and include wheelchair access to all raised or lowered areas of the terminal via ramps and access to higher storeys via lifts.

Ground transportation options are plentiful and include SuperShuttle buses offering shared rides to the city, an airport shuttle service covering Maryland and Howard County and a public bus operated by Washington DC Metro service. A train station at the airport, which is connected to the terminal via a free shuttle service, also provides regular and speedy connections with the city. Taxis meanwhile can be hired from outside the airport for door-to-door rides in and around the Maryland area.

Parking facilities are excellent with space for 30,300 vehicles spread across an assortment of parking lots. Short-term parking is available in a car park located directly in front of the terminal building while a long-term facility is situated a little further away and is served by a free shuttle service that runs regularly between the lot and the terminal.

Getting around Baltimore is easy due to the city’s comprehensive public transportation system which includes buses, trains, a metro and taxis.

Light rail services, operated by the Baltimore's Mass Transit Administration (MTA), cover 27 miles of Baltimore’s area on a single north to south line that commences at Timonium and concludes at Glen Burnie. The trains are similar to the old streetcars that previously operated in the city.

The famous Greyhound Bus Company offers connections between Baltimore and a large number of US cities with connecting buses serving Canada also. Buses are regular and operate throughout the week with overnight services also.

Visitors choosing to hire a car and make their own way around the city of Baltimore will find a variety of routes into the city from other US cities with the I-695 providing principle access. To reach the I-695 from destinations north, take the I-83; from destinations southeast, take the I-395 and from destinations west, take the Baltimore National Pike road (US Route 40).
