Top Things to See

At the centre of Sharjah is the Heritage District, which is dominated by the Al-Hisn (Fort) Museum. There are number of cultural and historic highlights within this part of Sharjah that are well worth seeing. The other hub of life in Sharjah is Qanat Al Qasba, a massive cultural and entertainment complex set around a network of canals. Be sure and take a ride on the Eye of the Emirates for its magnificent panoramic views.

Al-Hisn Museum
This historic fortress was the home of Sharjah’s rulers for over 200 years. The site has always been a beloved public forum where the sultan’s subjects could meet for special occasions. The complex is divided into several sections, including an interesting museum detailing the restoration of the fort, an exhibition of weapons, and the Al Qassimi Library. The fort’s blend of beautiful artefacts and stunning architecture makes it a popular attraction.

Eye of the Emirates
It’s hard to miss this massive observatory wheel, which is the iconic landmark of Qanat Al Qasba. Its artistic style comes complements of its Dutch designers, and the 42 modern, air-conditioned cabins can carry up to 336 passengers when full. At its apex, the wheel sits 60 metres above the ground, providing outstanding views in all directions.

Majlis of Ibrahim Mohammed Al Midfa
This popular meeting place for locals is located between the waterfront area and the Al Arsah Souk. It is famous for its unique round windtower, the only one of its kind in the Emirates. The tower is a great place for hanging out and people-watching. Inside is a small exhibition of interesting items from Sharjah’s history donated by the owner, Al Midfa.

Qanat Al Qasba
The heart of tourism in Sharjah is the Qanat Al Qasba, a massive 10,000-acre complex featuring entertainment, and cultural and dining venues. A 30-metre-wide water canal runs for 1,000 metres through the complex, crossed by pedestrian bridges and lined by cafés on both banks. Boats are available to give you a cruise along the canal, while the main Masrah Al Qasba theatre regularly hosts special events. There is also a huge exhibition area that holds ongoing exhibits.

Sharjah National Park
The largest park in Sharjah is an ideal spot for a shady walk or a relaxing picnic. There are dozens of attractions within the park, such as specialised recreation areas, a unique cycling track, a dry ski slope, and even a (large) miniature replica of Sharjah city in perfect detail. This is a great place to see the families of Sharjah at their most relaxed.
