Tunisia is a country situated in North Africa and while relatively small, it is a place that’s filled with places of interest and significance with everything from sandy Mediterranean beaches to historic remains and breathtaking Saharan landscapes. The country has a well established tourist infrastructure which includes fine holiday resorts with hotels, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues geared towards its visiting population.
While 98 per cent of the country’s population are Muslim, Tunisia has a surprisingly liberal attitude in comparison with many Middle Eastern destinations and visitors will feel relatively uninhibited and free to engage in most pursuits during their stay. The locals are on the whole very warm towards tourists and it’s highly unlikely that you will experience any hostility. You may even find that you get invited to a local’s house to enjoy a traditional Tunisian home-cooked meal.
