Hong from China stayed in a Deluxe for 2 days.
Ananda is very atmospheric with tastful decor. The restaurant is probably the best in town and the gallery is worth a visit. The staff there cannot be more friendly and helpful. The only unpleasant experience we had was the noise of luggage being dragged down the stairs on one early morning.

Superficially the Ananda is a smart boutique hotel but its performance falls far below its pretensions. We were very sorry for the staff who tried very hard to produce a good service. However their very rudimentary English and the lack of any foreign language t.v.news channels) make this a bad bet for non Thai speakers. The room was pleasant but as there were no net curtains on our ground floor window we had to use the very dim room lights. The hotel is situated on a motorway on the edge of town and a long way from the main attraction of Sukothai which is the magnificent heritage park. The food was mediocre and overpriced and we would not recommend the hotel to any visitors to the twon.

Small, boring hotel far from everything, right on the road, noisy and hot.

A little expensive for what you get -- it is more a motel than hotel. Room was clean and generally adequate.
Thais celebrate Buddha’s birthday. Local Wats (Buddhist Temples) celebrate by holding candlelit processions. A tourist may take part in these parades and it can prove great fun.

Asanha Puja
Sees Thai Buddhists celebrating Buddhist lent, the full moon festival. One can view Buddhist temples throughout the year, but this tradition can be picturesque due to the activity of the saffron robed followers.
