This place is great, the staff are very friendly and always happy to help with a smile. The location is great on the beach front mixed in with the natural surroundings and wildlife.

The aquarium/zoo is amazing. The place is clean and quiet. The location is a bit remote though. Coffee is horrible. Probably ideal for families.

The deluxe rooms where being renovated during our stay and will be nice once completed ,the std rooms have had new appliances . This hotel is on a large site which run down and old it needs alot of attention and money spent to bring it up to standard. The property is also 5km out of town and there is nothing do to do or places to eat etc We checked out 2 nights early and moved on

Mark from United Kingdom stayed in a Deluxe for 13 days.
The resort was beautiful the rooms normal, no facilities what soever - bars, food, coffee ot drinks, apart from breakfast. Several people booked in and stayed only one night. My brother his wife, my wife and I stayed two weeks and loved it as we were self sufficient. Treat it as backpacking (and it is cheap enough) and breakfast with the tigers and birds was great fun.

This hotel was a nice and quiet place to stay I really enjoyed my time there because I didn't want to be in the busy center. The hotel had a taxi service that takes guest to the town where shopping and evening entertainment are plenty. So when I wanted to do these activities I was able to.

Subodhana from United Kingdom stayed in a Standard for 3 days.
The facilities in the Samui Orchid were good and the rooms nice but the service was frankly offensive and totally unhelpful; furthermore it is located a fair distance from anywhere interesting on the island. The staff's laxness and unwillingness to help was astonishing - we were made to wait whilst others were served before us, or whilst one receptionist chatted on the phone for a full fiteen minuntes before addressing us. For this reason alone I would not recommend the Orchid to anyone, at least until they address their appalling service.

This hotel does not give good value for the money paid; many other bungalows, etc. in Lamai that are much nicer for the price of this hotel. Great swimming pools and good Thai restaurants nearby is about all it has to offer. The beach was not suitable for swimming while we were there as water was very shallow. The advertised "beautiful coral reef" was a dead reef. Also, the hotel is part of a local zoo complex and the conditions the animals were kept in was very disturbing to western sensibilities. It is quite a distance from Lamai Beach, although the hotel does offer a shuttle service. I would not recommend this hotel.
What better place to enjoy boat racing than sunny Koh Samui. This is an international event with hundreds of entries.

Buddha’s birthday
Thais celebrate Buddha’s birthday. Local Wats (Buddhist Temples) celebrate by holding candlelit processions. A tourist may take part in these parades and it can prove great fun.

Asanha Puja
Sees Thai Buddhists celebrating Buddhist lent, the full moon festival. One can view Buddhist temples throughout the year, but this tradition can be picturesque due to the activity of the saffron robed followers.
