Rated #35 for all Koh Samui hotels
This hotel is wonderful! Situated in the perfect place on the beach where the water is calm and peaceful. It is ideally located for all the groovy bars on the beach and within walking distance of the funky bars and nightlife in town! - none of the streets noise is heard in the hotel. The hotel is so clean and beautifully built with wooden furnishings and lots of greenery, giving a jungle outdoor feel! The swimming pool is lush and you can see the beach from the pool! I came here with my boyfriend and we both agree it was our fav hotel on our trip. Our room also had a great walk in shower a...

Over-rated hotel that is really run-down. Hotel-area seems dirty, staff not very friendly.

Compared with what was on offer in Chaweng Beach it was certainly one of the better hotels around but in terms of a comparision with 5 star hotels it was definitely not 5 star (more like 3.5-4). Meals were excellent, room was large but too much dark wood panelling and insufficient natural light for my liking. Staff were great and very helpful.

Lovely spacious private rooms and wonderful swimming pool. Easy access to beach and shops. Staff very friendly and helpful but little English understood. Delicious in-house restaurant across the road. Breakfast at the hotel never changed, so got a bit boring for 10 days. Also couldn't ever get hot coffee!

Excellent hotel, the spa was lovely - best massage yet. The rooms were spacious, the beach area was quite tired looking and could do with replacing sun loungers, umbrellas etc. but an ideal location with lovely views. Very friendly and efficiant staff, only down side mosquitos! Bring mosquito spray as mosquitos everywhere!!!

The hotel is centrally located along Chaweng Beach, with easy access to the beach as well as shopping and dining. The room is nicely furnished and well-spaced from each other, so you do not get disturbed by noisy neighbours.
However, the staff seem a little overwhelmed and lacklustred, maybe because it is the peak travel season. Lukewarm instead of hot coffee and tea were served at breakfast, dirty cutlery and plates were not cleard. Instead, the service staff seemed more interested to take down your room number.
On one of the days, I had to call housekeeping twice before they came to clean the room, at about 4pm. I've expected them to do some simple cleaning of the room when they came to turn down the bed in the evening, as with most 5-star resorts I've stayed in, but the dirty towels were left intact on the vanity top. For the high rates charged at this hotel, I've expected a better level of service.

Beautiful resort - more than could have hoped for during our short stay. The garden view suite with walk in bathroom / dressing room was very spacious and perfect. The breakfast selection was excellent. Highly recommend it if want to be in the centre of everything.

The rooms are of a good size, we could not use the jacuzi because it smelt awful when it was turned on. There was no sports channel on the tv during the world cup [ except at the hotel bar I wonder why?] The rooms did not get made up until late in the day which made it imposible to have a nap in the afternoon, you could only have two towels a day, so if they got wet you could not replace them. The air conditioning could not cope with the size of the room and had to be on full making it very noisy. There is not enough room around the pool to comfortably lay on a sunbed, there is only one entry point into the pool at the far end and no steps to get in or out. There are just enough beds on the beach and the two boys in charge work very hard. The beach shower is pathetic. The staff are generally very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are the worst we have had in ten years of travelling to thailand - they were always running out of food and drink and everything was cold except the omeletts and eggs. There is no non smoking so take a gas mask with you. All things taken into account and manys years touring in thailand this hotel is NOT a five star and should have a THREE star rating.

The room is very spacious and the best part is the jacuzzi tub that can accomodate two adults and even my two kids age 3 and 8 months old. The location is very convenient. Mini-mart is just across the road and we are spoilt for choice when it comes to food.

The hotel is great with excellent facilities and the staff couldn't do enough for you to make your trip a pleasurable experience. When we first arrived we were greated by building noise from the premises next door and were a little concerned that this was going to didturb our stay, but we needn't have worried...none of the noise from either the building work or the busy nightlife that was right on the hotel's doorstep were a problem. We had a truly wonderful experience that we hope to enjoy again, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Muang Samui to anyone looking for a great holiday!
