The Samui Regatta is an annual boating event which takes place off the coast of Koh Samui and marks the final stage of the Asian Yachting Grand Prix Competition. Also dubbed the ’Tropical Island Regatta‘ this exciting maritime event has been going strong since 2001 and has been an international-level event for the last ten years. If you want to attend, check out HotelTravel.com’s unbeatable selection of Koh Samui beach hotels perfect for the Samui Regatta.

All three of our hotel picks are conveniently located on Chaweng Beach, where the Regatta is held. For lavish 5 star accommodation book a suite at the Imperial Samui Beach Resort, which boasts stunning views and Mediterranean-style architecture, or opt for Kanda Residences Pool Villa, another 5 star resort. Situated just 10-minutes from Samui Airport this picturesque hotel is home to its own wellness centre, pool and beach-side restaurant. For comfortable 4 star accommodation right on the beach choose the Chaba Cabana Beach Resort which offers easy access to the shops and bars of Chaweng and is highly rated by HotelTravel.com customers.

This year the Samui Regatta will take place from 24 to 31 May; the schedule includes a practice race on Sunday, 25 May which will be followed by five days packed with compelling racing, complete with daily prize-giving ceremonies and a ’Stand-up Paddleboard Challenge‘. On the concluding day there will be a lavish gala dinner and presentations, hosted by the Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui in Chaweng.

When you are not enjoying the spectacle of the Regatta and mingling with other yachting enthusiasts, carve out some time to explore some of Samui’s many attractions. Pay a sunset visit to the Grandmother and Grandfather rock formations on Lamai Beach, wander around the Samui Butterfly Garden, which occupies a prime position on the side of a hill in the southeast of the island, and feed the baby elephants at Bophut Elephant Camp a few minutes away from Fisherman’s Village.

Feeling peckish? Head to Zazen’s Restaurant in the Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa and enjoy the picturesque sea views and mouth-watering Thai menu. If you visit on a Thursday or a Sunday you will be able to catch their twice-weekly traditional Thai dance show.
