Rated #32 for all Koh Samui hotels

We are are a family of two adults and two grown up children, and because we had stayed at the Boathouse before, we recognised that it would be possible for all four of us to stay in one of the converted rice boats for a ten day holiday. These provide a terrific amount of room and are excellent value. The hotel itself is very well apointed with two swimming pools and is right next door to the beach. We actually dined on the beach on a number of occasions; either at the Boathose restaurant or in one of the adjacent properties. The sand and sea are very clean; there is no rubbish to be seen ...

This is a very pleasant hotel with good facilities. Lovely beachside location - were pleased not to be in Chaweng which is great to visit but nice to leave -( Chaweng would appeal more to those looking for a lively nightlife and who dont mind litter on an idyllic beach). The restaurants along the beach are all good. You can book excursions at the hotel Tour desk and these were much cheaper than from the Rep. Taxi travel is cheap but agree price before journey. The boat suites looked lovely and we were told very spacious but we had a premier room on the third floor and it was very nice. As we were high up we had little trouble with insects aqnd the climb kept us fit!! There are no lifts. Fresh fruit and water each every day. The maid fills the kettle with water as although the tap is ok for teeth its not nice to drink. There were more young children on the last 2 days and apart from swimming I didnt notice any other organised stuff for them. I have always taken mine away from 8months on and I think for most children this is a long journey to a very hot country and unless they are into different cultures there are places closer to home if you just want a beach and to relax. Thailand is a beautiful country and I would recommend this hotel.

Having stayed here previously, I thought the level of maintenance had deteriorated to the extent that I feel it is now over priced, and would seek other accommodation on my return visit to Samui .

We would certainly return to the Boathouse again.

Songkran
13 Apr 10 - 15 Apr 10

The most frenetic festival in the country is that of Songkran, the Lunar New Year and all-around national water fight. Held from the 13th to 15th April each year…it’s a wet one! Traditionally it was celebrated by Buddha images being bathed with water and the showing of respect to monks and elders. From the sprinkling of water onto someone’s hands it has evolved into mass drenching for anyone who decides to venture outdoors. This has to be one of the friendliest, though wet, festivals anywhere and a great way to make new friends. In places like Chiang Mai, Sukhothai and Bangkok’s Khao San Road, Songkran lasts up to 9 days!t
