Unlike most north American or European hotels the beds in most of the upper end hotels in Thailand I stayed in had VERY firm mattresses which take a bit of getting used to. The beds at the Royal Princess Hotel in Ranong also had this type of mattress but had the added feature of 4 metal support rods that you can feel in the middle area of the mattress to further aggrivate my already brused hips. The beds were made managable for a comfortable nights rest by sleeping sideways on the king size bed near the pillow or foot end of the mattress only. Since I was travelling alone this was not too inconvenient however couples may find this annoying.
The internet service at the business center was hit and miss and worked only half the time that I was there. The hot mineral water that the area is famous for is pumped directly into the hotel and is used as the hot water for your bath and shower. This water is hot and clear and not discolored in any way.
