It was my first visit to Tailand, and when we looked around it was the best place in Phuket. I mean hotel location in Karon Beach. We travelled with baby, and were provided a lot of supports from hotel staff. At the end of our stay, Saitong wing building was required to be maintaned, and we were kindly reqested to move different wing with upgrate room. It was great time for my family we really enjoyed stay in Hilton.

The location is safe and located on Karon Beach which is across the road. This is a large complex with three pools and a very good Spa with individual treatment villas. During the busy season they are usually fully booked. So makeing you appointment is very important. The treatments are moderately expensive but the location is superb for total privacy and relaxation. The area is developming so restaurants with walking distances. Massage are available both right and left from the Beach Road access. These are moderately priced for massage, a foot massage for one hour is about 200-250 baht. These places also vary in facilities and clenaliness. YOu have to experiment a bit to find out what you like.
The hotel room service staff is very good. It is good to tell the maids your needs, i.e. more shampoo or water and tip them 50 baht for doing so everyday. The food and esp. the breakfast buffet is very good and has a variety of from the world. Very nice assortment
Getting to the famous Patong Beach requires a 20 minute Tuk Tuk ride at a negotioted price. In May 2008 it cost our part of four 250-280 baht for the ride to town. Depends on your negotiating skill. If you don't want the Tuk Tuk parked close the Arcadia you will have to walk down the beach road so you are out of site of the parked taxis. These seems to be an agreement that no taxi will take the business of standing tuk tuks near the Arcadia Access. So walk down the road a couple hundred and try to get one there.
We have stayed a six other hotels on Phuket but after find the Hilton Arcadia weve stayed at Hilton Arcadiia ever since. Usually twice a year.

There a re number of restaurants south of Arcadia both seafood and thai food and or fusion foods. We do both we go to Patong for clothes and some restaurants and people watching. but after a few days you have seen everything.
Regiistration sometimes takes time because of the number registering. An ATM machine is located in the main building . Very convenient and much safer than on the streets.
The have an excellent staff that tries to help. If you run into andy issues best to contact the customer service manager. The restauants are very good but they have a lot of competion on the streets. We eat breakfast and sometimes other meals at the hotel but most often we are trying a new location and restaurants.

Housekeeping did not replace items so they had to be requested, internet extremely expensive to use, ants in bathroom, white bedspread was stained, room filled with bulky furtniture making clear floor space minimal and making room appear very small, in-room music through TV had to be restarted by calling front desk many times during the week stayued at the hotel, power outages almost daily, the list goes on. Response to request were prompt and usually correct. What was very poor was the number of times requests had to be made for items you would normally expect to happen routinely. Paid for a sea view room and end up with a room about as far from the sea as you could get but still could see the sea so I was told I got what was requested. Many other room very close to the sea did not have the same obstructive view. Hotel arranged transportation about 20% higher than what could be arranged elsewhere (such as on-line). Taxi stand was at exit form hotel so that was OK. Very disappoited in the hotel, rated a 5-star on this site but I would say only 3 at best and then very over priced. I would not recommend this place for others. Look at all the neagtives listed and when expensive to begin with then to have all the issues seen it is very over priced. Stayed here based upon brand recognition and rating, next time I go here I'll shop by price as many other hotels seen looked nicer and were cheaper when looking at this site. A luxurious hotel overlooking the beach but the grounds are very large with very long distances to walk to restaurants, pools and other facilities. Quite a walk into town but taxis readily available. Check-in time was 2pm but room not ready. Requested king-size bed but this was not initially provided, but rectified on request. Internet access in room very expensive. Breakfast buffet was excellent but the service not 5 star. Although an enjoyable stay I would probably choose something smaller and closer to town next time.

The room was large and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, the towels and linen were excellent and the room was cleaned thoroughly each day. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff was excellent, the sunset from the ocean view room was spectacular ... the room itself was clean and comfortable ... the dining room staff are top class. The noise level from the tiled floor of the room above can be a problem if thoughtless people walk around in their high heeled shoes at night ... we though it was value for money and would stay there again. The gardens and pool areas are beautifully maintained. I'm sure my friends and relatives would enjoy staying here, I have taken photographs to show them.
