An excellent location with 3 exits. One straight onto Bangla Rd. and another leads straight onto the beach. Rooms were very good. My only problem was I requested a double bed and got two singles instead. Which were a little too soft for me. The shower flucuated between hot and cold far too much. These two issues aside I would highly recommend the Patong Resort ...

Patong Resort - it was a good 'resort' in a prime location for bars, restaurants and the beach BUT totally over-priced. Standard rooms were 'tired' and need of refurbishment and deluxe rooms had weird coloured carpets which gave you a headache !!
Unfortunately, the Patong Resort has joined the recent craze of fleecing tourists by charging "joiner fees" for guests being in the room. This 'joiner fee' of bht700 was levied even though i'd pre-paid for a 'double' room and this included for 2 American Breakfasts. So what is this 'joiner fee' for ? absolutely nothing ! its simply a 'hidden' tax used by hotels who know that many of their paying guests will invite ppl into their rooms overnight. Now before we get judgmental, not all 'invited guests' are working girls remember, and it makes it very demeaning for the 'invited guest' in question to be treated as such by an grumpy 'security guard' at the end of good evening out.
JOINER FEES NEED TO BE BANNED ... VOTE WITH YOUR FEET.... BOYCOTT HOTELS LIKE THIS THAT HAVE STARTED DOING THIS. .. if you pay extra for a double room with 2 American breakfasts, then why are we paying twice for the same thing ?

You should be able to specify pool view or city view when you book your room. The city view has bars on the balcony...the pool view rooms are clearly the better choice. It is difficult to tell from the hotel pictures that the atmosphere at the Garden Pool is where the best room choices are. These bungalow-type rooms are even better than the rooms in the main hotel, and clearly the best choice. Hours for certain services seem to cater to the staff rather than the guests. The room service menu stated breakfast until 11am, but when we tried to order at 10:30am, we were told it was closed and only got service after insisting on it. The gift shop has hours painted on the door opening at 7am, but on check-out day at 7:45am, I was unable to purchase any souvenirs, because it was closed. I was then told it would open at 8am. When we left for the airport at 8:15am, the shop still wasn't open. Not impressed with the complimentary drink either, the guest should be able to choose something

Pay the extra and get a room upgrade it is well worth the money. A negative is the lack of large beds in the hotel it seems nearly every room contains singles
