Patong Merlin was way and beyond all expectations. First time in Phuket and absolutely loved it. All staff were fantastic - expecially at breakfast as our waiter remembered our room number after the first morning we went down for breakfast - The omlettes are fantastic!! Pool staff, bar staff and reception staff were also great. The pools are exremely clean (done every morning) and garden and paths are all washed down everyday. Our room was situated on the 3rd floor overlooking 1 of the 3 pools, and was cleaned (scrubbed) every morning. Didn't have safe in our room, which was disappointing, but...

We visited many other hotel complexes while in Patong and although Patong Merlin is in good need of fresh update it is second to none for atmosphere and location. Many of the newer complexes although impressive to look at, seemed less friendlier and less easy going. Prices at the complex itself were a little high but this is to be expected at any hotel complex. We got around this by not eating there except for the buffet breakfast which was substantial enough to cater for all needs. We are a family of five and our kids loved the pools and location. We met many people who have come back time & time again and have always chosen to stay at Patong Merlin. For a family or a group of friends travelling I would highly recommend the Patong Merlin.

great location in the middle of things. Runs all the way between the 2 main roads. Fantastic, deep pools you could run and dive into, but could not believe amount of algae, some broken tiles with sharp edges, and some very slippery, angled tiles on edging of 3rd pool - stupid ! I fell over. Pool water very clean, but what's with all the algae on some of the walls ? Unfortunate choice of colours make the hotel look dowdier than it is. It has a certain charm, but is not modern looking or fancy. It's standard is like a good Australian Motel. By the end of my stay, I actually liked how it looked in comparison to the fancy hotels. Bed stiff like a board, but comfortable enough after a few minutes. Pillows terrible, and I tried a few. Beds only have doona ? Crazy ! Rooms also not fancy, but good enough and big enough and clean. Fittings need refurbishment, but what didn't work was quickly fixed. Large shower, some rooms have baths. Quiet enough air-conditioning, and cool enough on ground floor to leave off overnight. Staff mostly friendly, but English not good enough of those in key positions. Friendly, except for cashiers - what is their problem ? Breakfast mostly very good, some bad, but enough choice to satisfy all - make sure they overcook the omelletes a little for full flavour. Pizza's and burgers better than at Patong Italian restaurants, and same price. Transport organised by the hotel was usually competetive, but tours booked through agents at the hotel terribly overpriced. Go see little tour operators just outside eg Fish and Chip travel just outside on beach road. Would I stay again - yes, absolutely, but only if it was a good price. Block 2, 3(pool view), 4 and 5 I think are best, but it depends on your priorities. If block 2, don't get close to the gym. Only one side has an elevator (1,3,5 also 6), 2 & 4 just stairs. One floor up is best in my opinion Definitely consider it if you want a central hotel, you don't need too fancy, and the price is right. Good luck finding their correct email address !

The location is excellent, just a few steps to the beach and the shops. The environment is beautiful both inside and outside the hotel, especially the garden in the hotel. The swimming pools in the hotel are very good and clean. Staffs are professional and friendly with good services. When they learnt that we are in the honeymoon trip, they decorated our room and provided us with free fruits. I also enjoyed the breakfast very much. Perfect value for money and strongly recommend.

Once again we were very pleased with our stay at the Merlin. It was the second time we had been there and some of the staff remembered us for the previous year!! We are planning to go back to Phuket again next year and the Merlin will be our number 1 place to stay - won't go past it!
