Our stay was mostly good wth only one real negative so will start with that. We stayed for 10 days at the Mercure Patong and having already stayed at 2 other hotels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai where the service was excellent we expected the same would be the case here but initially it was not and this was mostly in the food and beverage areas however during our stay there was a huge turnaround, Each morning when we went to breakfast there was never a clean and set table available and we would have to wait ages for the table to be cleaned and re-set and often that didnt happen either - this seem...

We stayed for 10 days at the Mercure Patong and having already stayed at 2 other hotels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai where the service was excellent we expected the same would be the case here but initially it was not and this was mostly in the food and beverage areas however during our stay there was a huge turnaround, Each morning when we went to breakfast there was never a clean and set table available and we would have to wait ages for the table to be cleaned and re-set and often that didnt happen either - this seemed to be the case regardless of the time. As I said in the last few days this changed and there was a dramatic difference so they must be addressing this shortfall. The breakfast selection was pretty good but this is pretty much the case in any hotel I have stayed throughout Asia,
The hotel is new and is in a good location but sufficiently away from hub of Patong so noise was never a problem. (The hotel basically is located behind the Patong Merlin) It only was a 10 minute walk from the shopping complex with Robinsons and Carrefour department stores and about a 7 minute walk to the beach.
The rooms and amenities are kept very clean and the Housekeeping service was the best of anywhere we stayed.
The property is set around a great pool and most of the rooms are pool facing - I would definitely request pool facing next time.
We also did the cooking course and I cant speak highly enough of this - we made three dishes each and then dined on them, It was very organised and the chef was great and it was much better than I had anticipated and certainly not expensive at 900 baht (about AUD$33.00). They took photos for you to keep and recipes were supplied - it was all good!
We would definitely stay here again and the price and the location makes this hotel a very attractive option and the only negative we experienced seemed to be addressed..

My family stayed at the Mercure Phuket Jan 08.. The hotel is in a handy location close to shops and transport and in a fairly quiet location. However a warning to travellers to keep their valuables locked in the safe, While my child was in the connecting room waiting for housekeeping to finish, money that was left on the bar was no longer there when housekeeping left. Disappointing for such a large hotel chain and the overall handling of the incident. Apart from the incident, it is a nice and fairly new hotel. Our next trip I will be booking with HotelTravel. excellent service and no problems with the bookings

Overall stay was good. Except for the fact that when my family were checking in, instead of connecting rooms, they gave me 2 rooms on separate floors. When they finally arrange for my family to stay on the same floor without connecting rooms, I have to wait till almost 9pm to get my second room available despite getting the assurance from the staff that they will notify me when the room was ready. (i checked in at 3pm) By then, my children were tired.
As the hotel is fairly new, the rooms and facilities are good and very pleasant to stay in. My kids love the 'Kids room'. This is definitely one of the factors that will make me choose the hotel again.
The location is also very convenient. 10 minutes walk to Patong beach and 15 minutes to a mega shopping centre.
