The weather in Krabi is typically that of tropical monsoon areas, providing the province with just two seasons, the hot season from January to April, and the rainy season from May to December. Monsoon winds, which change according to season, blow from the southeast, the southwest, and the northeast. Temperatures range between 16.9 and 37.3 degrees Celsius and the yearly rainfall averages 2,568.5 mm.
Imagine floating along Ao Phra Nang and Railey beaches where you can hire canoes, either by hour or by day. A few charter companies in the area also offer canoeing expeditions along the coast or around the islands in the area.
Chinese New Year: is a time of firecrackers, lion dancers parading through the streets and time to ‘spring-clean’ the house, it is celebrated in February by all Chinese-Thais. Lanterns line the streets and the smell of incense wafts through the air. Dragon parades weave down roads and children gad about everywhere.
Temples and mosques (or 'wat' and 'masa-yit', as they are called in Thai) are more than just places of worship. They are at the very heart of the local community they represent, providing guidance and education, as well as a social centre for festivals, ceremonies and charitable events.
Krabi can be accessed by boat from Phuket. There are a few boat service companies that offer trips to Krabi daily. Boats depart the Phuket ferry terminal each morning between 08.00 and 08.30 each morning and arrive at Ao Nang Beach (south-west of Krabi Town) about 2 hours later.
Krabi is considered a very safe destination as crime involving foreigners is very low. It is wise, however, to observe all normal precautions in crowded areas and remain vigilant and alert. Practice common sense when traveling and keep your eyes on your belongings.
