
Air

Car
From Bangkok, vehicle hire is generally reasonably priced and certainly provides an excellent way to see the country on a first hand level. Take Route 4, passing Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khirikhan, Chumphon, Ranong, and Phangnga Provinces before reaching Krabi a total distance of 946 kilometers.
An alternate route is to take Route 4 to Chumphon and then turn onto Route 41. This leads through Lang Suan and Chaiya Districts of Chumphon to Wieng Sa District of Surat Thani from there follow Route 4035, passing Ao Luk District of Krabi, back onto Route 4 and down to Krabi Town. This shortcut is just 814 kilometers.
From Phuket, take Route 402 to Route 4 and pass Tambon Kok Kloy of Takua Thung District in Phang Nga Thap Pud District, Phang Nga and enter Ao Luk District of Krabi the total distance is 185 kilometers.

Bus
Taking a bus from Bangkok to Krabi is a simple and economical solution. However, it is a 12 hour journey, so be prepared for a long bumpy ride. Most buses are air-conditioned and you will have a chance to view Thailand rural areas up-close and personal.
Taking a bus from Phuket to Krabi is only a 2 1/2 to 3 hour journey with busses departing Phuket every hour.

Train
If you are going to Krabi from Bangkok, taking the train is another option although slightly more complicated. You can board the train in Bangkok, however, you will have to disembark at one of the following stations: Trang, Phun Pin in Surat Thani Province, or Thung Song in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. From any of these places a bus may be taken onward to Krabi.

Tuk-tuks
Tuk-tuks, small mini-vans, are a common mode of transport. These like the rest of the public transport in the area, can be hailed anywhere along a particular route. Within the city fares vary but are never more than a few Baht and generally there is a set price from one point to another. Outside the town, the price is negotiable and it’s a good idea to agree on the fare before you climb in.

Motorcycle Taxis
Motorcycle taxis are everywhere. Easy to find, they hang around most of the busier intersections and along most roadsides in the area. Again it is wise to sort out the price before departure.
Car
Car and jeep rentals are reasonably priced and readily available. It is one of the best ways to see the area. Check that the vehicle you are hiring is covered by insurance. Unless hiring from a reliable source you may find it isn’t and as it is the driver’s responsibility to pay all damages if there’s an accident, you may be in for a nasty surprise.
Motorbike rental shops are easy to find and the bikes cheap to hire. Insurance cover is not available for rental motorcycles and any damages incurred along with medical bills are your responsibility.

Boat
Krabi can be accessed by boat from Phuket. There are a few boat service companies that offer trips to Krabi daily. Boats depart the Phuket ferry terminal each morning between 08.00 and 08.30 each morning and arrive at Ao Nang Beach (south-west of Krabi Town) about 2 hours later.
