Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas (formerly Sofitel Central Hua Hin Resort) was built in 1923 and recently renovated, the unique and famous colonial style Sofitel Central Hua Hin is located facing the beach. A favored royal holiday spot, it is only a stroll away from the Summer Palace. Thailand's first seaside resort, the elegance of a bygone era is reflected in the rich silk decoration and antique cotton fans.

Rated #8 for all Hua Hin hotels
The Sofitel Central was the highlight of our trip to Thailand. Stayed a week, had an upgraded room to a Duplex booked though Hoteltravel and just didn't want to leave. Strongly reminiscent of the famous Raffles Hotel with its colonial ambience, this beautiful resort with its spacious grounds, tropical landscaped pools, numerous restaurants and centrally located right on the beach and in Hua Hin, it is the perfect place to experience Thailand of a byegone era - for us a very special place compared to the high-rise modern type of resort. We enjoyed the Thai language course, the vegetable and ...

Beautiful resort with excellent location near the city centre of Hua Hin. Spending sunny days by the pool at Sofitel gives you to feeling of being in the middle of a tropical garden with the sound of birds, the ocean and a live jazz band by the pool. After spending 8 days at Sofitel we only missed one thing and that was sun beds on the beach below the pool area.

This was our 3rd visit to the Sofitel and I can honestly say that its the very best hotel I've ever stayed in.It has understated elegance and attention to detail such as a newspaper delivered to your room daily, fresh flowers and chocolates/petit fours with weather for the following day late afternoon . Lovely tropical gardens backing on to the beach. My only criticism , and this is minor, is that during weekends when the hotel gets full , breakfast can be a little chaotic .....otherwise a truly wonderful experience.

Beautiful colonial hotel from the 1920's surrounded by perfectly kept topiary gardens, Sofitel Central is a wonderful place to enjoy Hua Hin: it has two swimming pool directly next to the beach and all the public areas are open air. Gorgeous buffet breakfast (it can get very crowded) and great restaurant for lunch on the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff, very nice rooms with balconies. Overall it is the perfect hotel to relax and enjoy Thailand.

We enjoyed the Thai language course, the vegetable and flower courses and the staff were the friendliest encounted in our trip to Thailand. Being so close to the centre of town is great for shopping and to try out the many restaurants which are all within walking distance. Returning to the Sofitel is like returning to an oasis - we loved it and are busy planning our next trip. Easy to return to Bangkok from Hua Hin as well, only 1800 baht in a taxi and plenty to pick from.

I'm finding that some Thailand Hotels have gone to the moon with pricing! This is one of them...it has gone completely away from the Thai feel...I felt like I was sitting in some American Hawaiian or European Italian hotel and not noing the difference...and paying through the nose just to get some sun.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times and always had an excellent time, however on this visit they seemed to have lost the plot a little. The hotel itself was as good as ever but the activities organised by the hotel were hopeless. Things like tennis courts being double booked, Thai language classes not taking place after being booked, staff not turning up at appointed times for outdoor activities. The Jazz Festival was on during our stay, but not a word of advise or apology on the disruption it was causing in the hotel. The whole management style seems to have changed and as far as I am concerned, not for the better. I still love Hua Hin but maybe its time I changed hotels.
