Rated #13 for all Chiang Rai hotels
Very good location, great breakfast. I would stay at the hotel again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Rai. The Wangcome exceded my expectations....

Reasonable large hotel right in the centre of town, giving easy access to the night market, town centre, bus station and local sights. The rooms are a reasonable size and fairly clean, although looking a little old fashioned and "tired". The buffet breakfast offers a good choice. The staff were most welcoming and helpful.

The only thing good about this hotel is the location which is at the centre of the city or happening. Food is so so only, swimming pool is a joke(for kids), staff should smile more or be more friendly and rooms rate is consider expensive with this class of hotel.

Some previous reviewers noted that the hotel was rather worn and in need of major repairs. There seemed to have been at least a partial renovation in the meantime. My room was reasonably large, clean and well equipped with a well-stocked (if somewhat overpriced)minibar, TV, hairdryer. The only complaint I had was that the room service menu is very limited. There were just a few standard Western dishes. Even the Thai food menu mainly featured street food fare like fried rice and some noodle dishes. More elaborate food like curries were missing. However, the food was well prepared and tasty. Nevertheless, the hotel is in an unbeatable location right in the city center and a variety of restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity. It is literally just a 2-minute walk to Chiang Rai's famous Night Bazar. Admittedly, the hotel is situated in a square fringed by several rather seedy-looking massage parlours where (so I suspect) one can get more than just a purely therapeutical massage. But the area is still rather quiet at night and I did not experience any disturbing noise levels as described by another reviewer. Overall, I found the hotel excellent value for money. It certainly only has 4 stars at best, but I truly recommend this hotel due to its terrific and convenient location.

Very good hotel, centrally located, good rooms, friendly personell. The entrance, lobby, elevators and outside need some refurbishment; they make not the best impression.

Tiny room at expensive price. Breakfast was included, but not very memorable, except for terrible coffee and cold eggs. Location is very good, but i would not stay there again!
