Rated #32 for all Chiang Mai hotels
Although the location is quite far from the night market bazarre and it added cost to keep catching a tuktuk into town. So, the negative side would be the location. Other that that it is a good hotel to stay....

The rooms were great! The beds easily got me into a deep sleep. The staff was friendly and fast. Breakfast had a wide variety of dishes. I find that there should be more reading materials at the facilities, like beside the pool.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Chiang Mai from March 11-15, 2008. It was an awesome deal. I booked it online for $44 US/Night, which included breakfast. The hotel is a 10 minute tuk tuk taxi ride from downtown. They charge anywhere from 60-100 bht and the tuk tuk's wait in a queue next to the hotel. Our room was very large, clean and we had a view of the pool and river. There was a safe and a hair dryer in the room so that was handy. I hear the hotel used to be the Sheraton so the decor is not spanking new but its fine. They did have a Flat 32 inch samsung LCD TV in the room which was cool. The pool was fine, lots of chairs to lay on, gym had some nautilus type treadmills, dumbells and a small workout weight machine. The buffet breakfast was really good. They had an omelete station, poached eggs, fried eggs, hashbrowns, sausages, a small korean and japanese selection as well as a some noodle and chicken stir fry choices. They also had a large bread selection, which included; crossiants, muffins, cakes etc.. There was a cheese, cracker, bologne type meat, fruit, cereal, yogurt, milk and juice selection. They even had several fresh juices blended which included watermelon, cantalope, and tomato, although it depended on the morning. They also brought coffee or tea to your table. The breakfast is from 6:30-10:30am so it was nice just relaxing and reading the paper before heading out on the tours. Night life was cool. Saw a few thai rock bands. The Riverside bar had a great band! All

We loved the deluxe corner room. Nice bed, desk, sofas, LCD TV, bathrobes for 2, great view with four different sets of windows, and lots of extras. Highly recommended. We loved the way the room was set up. Everything was great!
We enjoyed the lobby atmosphere. Very well done! We recommend it without a heartbeat!

Is a nice Hotel but the staff is not motivated. To wait 5 or more minutes for coffee/tea while breakfast and the staff is dreaming or chatting is not the right kind of service for 5 star hotel. Even the room cleaning is happend sometimes very late, means after 3pm. All in all the service quality is not stabile, sometimes excellent - sometimes less then average.

God hotel for the value. Good room size, nice bathroom with seperate shower. They just had closed the swimingpool for renovation and they had arranged for a swimingpool outside hotel but you had to pay for it. That was not normal, so we did not go.

average for item 6 needs further explanation. Location is certainly safe and secure - no problem there, but not close to shops and entertainment which require a taxi or "tuk tuk" trip each time. Taxis/tuk tuk however are not expensive (very cheap), just inconvenient. Would stay there again.

It was rather strange that the pool was being cleaned on the only day that was sunny that week and it took all day. I think it would've made more sense to do it at night. Location is a bit out of the way from the center of town.

Check in and check out procedures was efficient and quick. We stayed 12 nights in 3 rooms and had a wonderful time. The food is good, especially lunch. The rooms/bath rooms are spacious and clean. Location is convenient too .. about 10 minutes from the night bazaar. Staff is friendly ..wireless internet is available in certain areas. Pricing for the internet is good since it is based on connect time and not on start/finish date. The reviews I read before checking in were somewhat conservative but after staying there for an extended period, I highly recommend it. The value for money spent is excellent.

During my stay at this hotel; one of the front desk staff had taken my credit card into the back offices for an imprint upon check-in (the only time I had used my card on that trip); a few days later I found fraudulent charges on my card originating in Chiang Mai -- upon investigation with the bank, someone had taken a physical imprint of my card on a paper charge slip and signed a forged signature not even closely resembling my own!
I am convinced it was an inside job involving the front office staff; this has completely shattered my image of Sheraton as a company and is indicative of their lack of control over staff -- I will never stay in another one of their hotels.
