The Amora Hotel was excellent value for money. We chose to upgrade to superior rooms and they were great rooms. Large Clean Rooms. Large modern bathroom. Comfortable beds and soft pillows. Good TV reception with world news and sports. Fresh sheets every day. Carpets are clean regulary so there was no musty smell which we have experienced elsewhere in Thailand. Rooms where spotless. Lobby huge and plent of comfy chairs to sit in while waiting. Always someone there at the front desk to greet you and help with problems or just take keys for safe keeping. The hotel is centrally located and within ...

The lobby is very nicely set up and reflect a 4 star standard. The rooms were a little run down though all facilities and amenities were in good working order. The breakfast were average. View in the light of the room rates, this hotel offers excellent value for what one pays. I will definitely return to this hotel for equivalent price as most of the time as tourist we are out touring Chiang Mai and the vincinity.

The stay was okay as I am a regular stayer here except for the renovation works in progress and the amount of little ants in the bathroom. This were not cleared until I had requested for the chambermaid to spary insecticide in the bathroom.

Hi Readers,
I was at Amora Rydges on the 27th Oct to 3rd Nov for 8 days. This was my 2nd visit to the hotel. When we arrived, we were greeted by a welcome drink. There are free safe at the lobby but safe in your room will be charged 105 baht everyday you use it.
I would say the rooms are big and spacious with noise level at the minimal. There are plenty of channels from CNN to MTV to animal planet. I was on the 10th floor facing Taepan gate and the view was great. I love the bath that provided foam bath, shower cap and even sewing kits that was refilled everyday.
One bad thing about the hotel was for the whole of 8 days, the lobby and toilet in the lobby are playing one same song. A nice relax type of music but after listening to it for 8 days, you become sick of it.
The breakfast was good. They served cornflakes, sausages, bacon, eggs, french bread and even porridge. Totally no complaint about the breakfast and i would say it was delicious every single day.
The gym was great. I didnt see much people using it except myself. The water in the pool is cold even on the warm weather. You can see the mountain from the pool. I didnt have the chance to try the spa because i find it a little expensive.
The lobby was spacious and you can read the latest newspaper lazing your afternoon away at the spacious lobby.
The location was fantastic. We are opposite of Taepan gate which was full of life. You can even buy some food at 10 baht to feed the fish and pigeon at taepan gate. The sunday market was fantastic but too bad it is only available on Sunday. Amora is well located nearby and you can take a 3 mins walk there. I guess most of the things are near amora except for the Night Bazaar which is about 15 minues of walk. I walk there everyday and i enjoy looking at the locals while walking to the Night Bazaar.
There is a Jade budhha temple behind amora and you can visit it. Very nice culture relaxing place i find. Remember to visit the "Sakura" restaurant right behind amora which served very nice and affordable Japanese food. There is 2 massage places right behind amora too. 120 baht for 1 hour of thai or foot massage. I go there everyday and give a tips of 20 - 30 baht as tips each time :)
Overall i find the hotel good and good value for money. I paid about 42 USD per night and i have no complaint about it. I think you will like it too if you dont set your standard too high :)
Cheers to everyone.
Regards,
Elvin

The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to the night bazzar, 10 to 15 min walk. There was a market near us beside the moat and this proved to be good for those in our group to do so easy shopping. The buffet breakfast was delicious with a good choice of many things. It is quiet inside, clean, fabulous swimming pool ( not cold like some other remarks have mentioned) and great value for money. Best place in town. This is our 4th visit to Chiang Mai and this is probably our pick of all the places we have stayed in. Yes we would highly recommend this hotel and stay here again through Hotel Travel.Com.

Nice hotel, conveniently located, clean room, clean and well equipped bathroom, elevators good, staff very friendly, breakfast average, good choice of tv channels. Clean room, around 25 sqmtrs., well furnished, good lighting, a/c good.
Spacious entrance, frontdesk clean and friendly personnell, elevators work good and no ong waiting time. Very friendly staff, give accurate information and very helpfull. Breakfast average, but no reason to complaint at all. Choice limited but what is available is good quality. Any area where I have been was kept clean, room cleaning accurate. A hotel in need of some money spent on it. The bathroom in particular was far from inviting. I found the overal attitude of the hotel 'greedy' in as much as the already installed in-room safe was charged at 102 baht per day when used. Numerous warning signs about 500 baht charges for lost keys etc. etc. were a little unwelcoming. The rate for wi-fi at 150 baht for 30 mins. was the most I have ever seen a hotel charge. The locaton was its best selling point.

Quite good location, just ouside the city ring. Big rooms, but a little bit noicy on the mountain view side (which actually faces the main road outside). An average hotel not disapointing at all, but if you want the little bit extra you need to pay more and chose one of the more expensive hotels available.

This hotel is very convenient located in the heart of Chiang Mai. The staff are wonderful people, speaking good English. The rooms are in good condition, breakfast is good as well. I would suggest the management to re-decorate the restaurant, it looks outdated. I certainly recommend this hotel to business as well as leisure travellers.

This was my second stay at Amora and I will return again. Just one small gripe, there was no safe in my room this time. Last year I was on a higher floor and the room had a safe which was charged for at around 20batt per day. The hotel does provide safe deposit boxes at reception but I would have preferred a small room safe for small amounts of money, watch, jewellery etc. Overall this is a good base for anyone visiting the city and is just a short walk from the night bazaar.

We stayed here for 8 nights and had a wonderful time - so much to do and see around Chiang Mai. We had interconnecting rooms which was absolutely great with our 2 boys (7 and 4). Rooms seemed very much as though they'd been refurbished recently - very clean and fresh decoration. The staff were so friendly - the boys are still talking about Pat the chief bell boy, who kept them entertained every morning while we had breakfast. Good swimming pool; I'd have liked it a bit warmer but the boys were quite happy and it was okay when you got used to it, especially in the heat of the day after some temple seeing. No hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, especially other families and would most definitely stay here again should we go back to Chiang Mai.

They only have a nice hall with expensive bar but the room is dirty. The air conditioning is noisy and very bad located. The furniture is very bad quality and you have to spend your money to buy products of the bathroom. The breakfast is really poor, you don't have choices. If you book a taxi in the reception of this hotel you have to pay 800 bath, but if you take a taxi outside of the hotel, for the same service I only paid 150 bath.

The most important thing for us is air conditioning. The room had an individual air conditioner that worked very well for us, controlling both heat and humidity, a must-have in Thailand! The room was very spacious and clean, with a recently renovated bath that was immaculate and modern. There was no room safe, an inconvenience. We liked the location, between the old city (just across the moat) and the night market (15 min walk). The breakfast buffet was not exceptional but adequate unless you expect real Thai cuisine of the spicy, hot variety. There are 7-elevens, internet cafes, un-airconditioned restaurants very close by, and a small street-food area across the moat. The street leading to the night market has some excellent shops for local hand-crafts and jewelry. The sidewalks in the vicinity of the hotel are narrow and a bit of a challenge, not suitable for wheelchairs, etc! The pool looked inviting but we did not try it out. The staff were very friendly and helpful!

On our arrival the reception girl steered us to the lobby arm chairs - where she completed our check-in ! Great experience when you are tired ! Pool area almost 5 star in comparison to some of the sub standard pool areas in other hotels ! Would have appreciated fresh fruit juices rather than cordials but to be fair you could order fruit shakes all included in breakfast. Have had better breakfasts in Asia but adequate - I am just spoilt! Great rooms for the price ! 100 Baht a bit rich per day for a security box ! But a very secure and trusting feeling at the hotel ! Would stay again !

This hotel had a great location for us as it was near to the old city and all the temples, we also hired a car so having a large free carpark was a bonus. The hotle's location is very covenient and close to the old city and evening market. Great location, and magnificant view of the old city. Bed was traditional Thai mattress, which was hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom wasn't that big, and not completely clean. Breakfast buffet was okay, but not that great. Constantly woke up in the morning and disturbed by the maid station phone right accross the hall from our room. If it weren't for the location and the view, it would not have been a good stay. Too many other hotels in Chiang Mai to choose from to recommend staying here.

Our mountain view room on a high floor looking to the west was superb. The room size was large and comfortable. The food for the breakfast buffet could have stood some improvement, however, it is a tourist hotel and the tour buses take their toll during morning foraging. Overall, I give this hotel high marks for service, comfort and value.

The hotel is basic but clean and close to everywhere. Staff are friendly and quite helpful. If you want to buy a tour package, just buy from the outside of the hotel. It's much cheaper! We love the elephant ride and rafting. Try the restaurants by the river, good food and great music, Goodview restaurant and The riverside restaurant are my favourite!

The room offered a standard bed and sufficient closet space. The pool was nice and the breakfast was very nice. The staff accomodated our requests quickly and easily. The location was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect. Just outide of Chiang Mai. We loved the spot. Within a short walk of everything (night market or the inner city).

I've been to enough bad hotels, and found that the Rydges was GREAT!! Why?...Clean, safe, good breakfast, and everything in my room was new. Plus, the location was good. Real easy to get around, and nothing dodgy. I will definitely stay there again, and will recomend to anyone who likes clean, comfortable, and fun lodgings.
