The Lotus Hotel Pang Suan Kaew in Chiang Mai, serenely reflects the ancient Lanna-Thai traditions of civilisation, hospitality and charm. The Rose of the North is well worth a visit for its centuries-old temples sprinkled around town, old city walls and gates, moat, and backdrop of beautiful mountains.

This is a fantastic hotel located just outside Chiang Mai Central City. It is close to everything and connected to a mall so you have all of Chiang Mai at your fingertips. The rooms are very spacious. The free breakfast is goooooooooooooood. My only grip is there were a lot of mosquitos in the lobby. This is a great value and I would definately stay here again....

The price for the hotel was a bit more than others in Chiang Mai, but it is attached to its own mall and you're able to get anywhere from the hotel.

All together good enough for the price. One of the cashiers could benefit from some training in customer service, very rude and unfriendly. But the rest of the staff I encountered were great. The room was showing lots of wear and the bathrooms especially with mold and mildew stains on the tiles. Airconditioner temperature could not be adjusted. Hot water would not come on the first morning and had to take a cold shower. But after housekeeping looked into it, the water ran warm (never hot) the rest of the time. Only a few channels on TV to watch. And lounge singers didn't stop until 11pm so I could still hear them from my room until then. Location was great, attached to the mall. Nice pool. Enjoyed breakfast buffet.

As I read in other reviews the hotel is very well placed but as others have said it is unfortunately rather gloomy lighting everywhere. If you are looking for a hotel with English breakfast this is not it. Hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities were advertised on the internet but were not provided in room. No drawers at all for clothes just a bench so the room always looked untidy. A very large wardrobe (light did not work) but only 5 coat hangers for two people. Despite asking at desk for more they never arrived my son provided us with them otherwise our clothes would have been so crumpled especially dresses. The maids were very efficient but they could not make good the grubby tiles in the shower shame really it lets the room down. All in all it could be a really good hotel with a little refurbishment in such a convenient area.

This hotel has 2 wings...If you book a superior room, you stay in the old wing, which has tons of storage and space but does have definite signs of wear and tear. I stayed in one of these and could not believe how quiet they were! The deluxe rooms are in the new wing of the hotel, which is what you see in the pictures included on the website. I have stayed on that side before-It has glass elevators and newer rooms, but the noise is more readily heard.....Each wing has a separate lobby and a different level of service (much more accomodating and professional in the newer (main) wing), but the older wing is definitely adequate (more limited English speakers, too!). The hotel has its own entrance but is attached to a large mall, which is super convenient. All in all, this was a great value for the money!

The old wing that I stayed is very old and run down. The carpet is dirty and smelly and the passage way to rooms is very dim. When I asked for kettle for me to boil water for my baby to drink, the gave me hot water instead. They told me that they did not have the kettle. Funny not to have kettle in a hotel. The hotel needs to reburnish as the existing furnishing is very old and dirty

I have stayed at this hotel several times over 7 years. The location is perfect, and the hotel has great potential, though it seems that the management has allowed the equipment and facilities to decay somewhat over the years. The hotel is attached to the Kad Suan Kaew shopping mall, so a myriad of shops and restaurants are just steps away. The hotel bars are nice and the breakfast buffet is still good. Due to it's great location, I'll probably continue to stay at this hotel as long as the price is reasonable, but I do wish that the owners would seriously consider some renovations.

We have stayed at the Lotus Pang Suan Kaew several times. While it isn't the nicest hotel we have ever stayed it, it is an extremely convenient location. Being connected to the Central mall and Tops grocery store is great. There are several good internet places close by as well. Overall, we enjoy staying at the Lotus each time we travel through Chiang Mai.

Good hotel for the location with excellent shopping within the complex at local prices - has music/bands in multiple locations each evening as well as a food court (with live music) in the attached shopping complex - also at local prices. A value family location just 10 minutes from downtown without the need to go there if local shopping instead of tourist shopping is required.

Staff' s friendliness is ok. Bussiness in restaurants is strange!:
End of breakfast at 10 am is too early for travellers comming from overseas.
Most of restaurants were opened during the day but no service staff available.
In the room no safety box. Only at lobby desk, but too small.
Furniture in rooms are too old. Choise in refrigerator is poor.
The buildings are not easy to survey. (a big shopping center is integrated and hotel is divided in two parts. Also a seperate hotel (Lotus Orchid) is integrated in the big complex)

Since we stayed in Superior room, we were given the rooms at the old wing - we had to go to the 6th Floor in order to . We requested for a double bed but was given 2 single beds. Although, the size of room is large, the room smells and the bathroom need some repair, you can see signs of water leakage. The water pressure is pretty strong. You'll be awaken each time someone uses the restroom as the rooms have thin walls. Breakfast - very limited choice (MAYBE if you stay at Deluxe room, it'll might be better). It's not easy to get a taxi in the morning. We had to walk all the way out to the main road (which is about 10-15mins walk and not easy to find - unless the customer service lead you) in order to get a tut tut. The good thing is that there are plenty of places to eat as this hotel is located at the shopping complex.

The senior management at the hotel is incompetent. The hotel is beginning to fall apart. The carpeting is frayed and worn through in many places on the stairs and entry ways. It is obvious they haven't put any money back into the hotel in infastructure in quite sometime.

We stay at the Lotus Pang Suan Kaew almost every time we go to Chiang Mai. For the money it is one of the best hotels in Chiang Mai. The fact that it is connected to Central mall which has restaurants, shops, grocery store, and movie theater makes it a great place to stay. The hotel massage services are wonderful. There are plenty of internet cafes around, and it is within walking distance of Starbucks Coffee! The breakfast is good, the rooms big, and the service great!

What we liked most was that the Lotus is right next to a 5 story indoor mall, with lots of restaurants and shops including the Central department store. You can actually walk to the mall without going outside. Also, the breakfast offered a good selection of food.
What we like least was waiting for the elevators. There are only 3 elevators, and at times we had to wait several minutes to get one.
The Lotus has 2 wings. One contains deluxe rooms which are spacious and nice, the other contains superior rooms which are disappointing. We stayed in a deluxe room and were quite happy with it. Most of the complaints from other reviewers have been about the superior rooms.

This hotel is quite run down with every part of it very tired. The room was a good size but badly needs a revamp. Bathroom adequate although our first morning had very little hot water. The hotel is next to a shopping mall but not close to the night market. Breakfast barely adequate. The staff were friendly. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.

Excellent location - the hotel is linked directly to a large shopping mall, Kad Suan Kaew, and is very convenient. Great swimming pool too, perfect for a relaxing tan after a morning's exploration. And the view of the hills first thing in the morning, from the Doi Suthep wing makes it magical.

We loved this hotel. Our stay there was very comfortable. We love the rooms because they are so big, each with a sitting area. Very comfortable. The hotel facilities were very quiet, clean, and well decorated. The staff were all very helpful and kind. It is a good location because it is connected to the Central Mall. There are plenty of restaurants in the Hotel, plus being located next to the mall, there are many food options.
