A great location and excellent staff make this a great place to stay in Chiang Mae. Close to the markets, small shops, coffee bars etc all within easy walking distance. The hotel offers great breakfast and entertainment. Its my second visit and will be back for more of the same thing...

Hotel room set up was conducive & comfortable but not much varied between the superior & deluxe room, hence recommend to opt for superior that is cheaper. The harmonious & romantic set up of different corners of the hotel make me understand why the late Taiwanese famous singer Teresa Tang like to stay in this hotel for long...!Have a lovely & clean swimming pool that can indulge yourself for a half day relaxing. The western live band music lounge allowed u to enjoy a pleasant evening with the pop English songs

Our Third time at this hotel, close to everything, the markets are within walking distance, Sunday night market at Thae Pae gate is a must, a great bookshop out the back of the hotel, walk thru the gardens and there it is. Chiang Mai also has a Tier Kingdom, opened in late March, grab a car and driver and visit. Staff are very helpful, go out of their way to help you, next time in Chiang Mai, the Mae Ping is a must Eileen and Doug. Visit Mr K over the road from the hotel, a mine of information.

I thought internet cable usage was too expensive ay 1500 bahts per hour. Also, a massage in your room for 1500 bahts per hour was a bit too much.

Gym facilities terrible, very small and no equipment worth their name. No internet in room, no wireless internet anywhere? Internet for laptop in lounge 350 bath per hour (compare with shops outside avg. 30-60 bath hour). Swimming pool pretty good, service off staff very friendly for most part, restuarant ok, didn't try room service. Room was nice and clean, no complains at all considering the room and house keeping excellent. Location was good as a tourist. All in all my stay was good, can recommend the hotel, only not satisfied with internet and gym, since it's a pretty big hotel I think more could be expected on those parts.

I stayed in a Royal suite on the top floor and the service provided by the friendly staff was exceptional. We were always greeted by smiling faces who went way out their way on every occation possible. The price of the room was a good value. The only complaint was that the water temperature in the shower fluxuated by many degrees, thankfully it was predictable and one could move in and out of the water flow to prevent scaulding. It could easily be remied if the hotel installed temperature regulating shower valves. I hope they do. The room service menu was also very resonably priced and the food was excellent. And there is no to beat the location of this hotel. It is right where I wanted to be in Chaing Mai, the heart of the city.

We enjoyed our stay at the Imperial very much. The rooms were clean, maybe a little on the small side but very comfortble. The maid forgot our towels two times , but a quick phone call and everything was okay. All the front desk and coniege people were very helpfull. The pool is very pretty and very relaxing. The food at the pool was very good and You can't beat the prices. Very good buffet breakfast. Huge selections and a cook making omelets, pancakes, and french toast, among other tasty delights. Very nice indeed. Good location, real close to the night market, but not too close. All in all I would stay at the Imperial again.

The air in the corridor outside our rooms was stuffy. The corridor was not well-lit as well. The location was excellent, extremely close to shopping areas.

1.) I made my reservations for a non-smoking / king or queen bed 3 months in advance. When I arrived, they said that they only had 1 non-smoking / queen bed in the entire hotel and that it was occupied. They gave us 2 twin beds (can you believe it)? 2.) In terms of food, we had prepaid for breakfast every morning. There is a buffet that is not replenished -- so my advice is to wake up early and eat at 7. (And, try to get one of the waitresses to give you coffee or tea.....you will be sitting there all morning.) 3.) In order to save money, the hotel shuts off the lobby lights and the garden fountains until the evening. So if you would like to sit inside (with the A/C) for an afternoon tea or cocktail in their newly rennovated llobby, you will be sitting in the dark. Frankly, it's depressing so the lobby has few if any guests. 4.) The front reception is extremely unhelpful. (With our room situation, the manager would not get involved -- and we had to carry our own bags upstairs

I enjoyed my stay at the Mae Ping in Chiang Mai. Service was courteous rather than friendly, but I had no problem with that. The food was surprisingly good for a big hotel , the Japanese Suki buffet was a particularly enjoyable encounter. The hotel is perfectly situated for the night bazaar and for the more energetic side of Chiang Mai nightlife. My only complaint was the internet service , the slowest I have ever encountered. The hotel needs 3 or 4 very high speed stations for the high price they charge for using the service ( 200 baht for 30 minutes ).

Generally no problems and enjoyable stay. We stayed in a suite but there was only one bathroom and a small one without any bathtub. The shower ran hot and cold which was a problem for the kids. The windows had some kind of tinted film on it which made everything look fuzzy when you looked out. Too bad because we had a nice view of the mountains.

EVERY YEAR I request a large bed. I'm a large guy. I can not sleep on a small twin. I go every year to MAE Ping and I still get harassed about getting a big large bed. (king). I pay extra and every year I have to argue, them telling me they are out of those rooms. When I put up a argument for 30 minutes, They always manage to find on available. I had a client of mine requesting the same and they refused to accommodate him in the next room. This was during Songkran (Thai New year) but if I book a room at the expensive rate...not standard. I go to MAE Ping every year and every year this happens to me.

Average size room with all facilities expected of an average star rating hotel. Good choice of food for breakfast but of an average standard. Poor leisure facilities, particularly the gymnasium. Excellent location being close to the night market and within easy waliking distance of many food outlets. The main problem was the live music from the bar outside which continued until late at night every night and could be heard from our hotel room. Thankfully we were on a high floor and so the noise was not too loud but I would imagine it could be a nuisance for those on lower floors. The food was average and there were a number of older guests who were there with Saga holidays. All in all I would say that for the money we paid the hotel was good value.

The rooms were clean, and well kept. It seemed quite new and the coloring of the room was nice and quiet. The rooms were little small for the price, but it was okay for 2 persons. I would like to stay there again.

Furnishings a little tired, but complete. Clean and good sized rooms. The pools were very nice, well attended, and the concierge was helpful several times. Used the tour desk and it was well staffed and there was good explanation of the tours. central, right in the heart of shopping and markets. Service was slow in restaurants, and we were handed off from person to person one evening, and had very poor service. Other nights were much better, though.
