Empress was excellent, we did not have a complaint(the weather outside was hot and steamy, but the aircon inside was very effective.) The food and service was excellent and the room (beds) was very comfortable. We like the charm of the lobby and thoroughly enjoyed the evening band and singers. We would definitely recommend for the food(breakfast)sevrive and good value. Kaye and Noel N...

This was my third stay at the Empress and it has retained it's standards. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is superb and the rooms are clean and tidy. I think it offers great value for money and I will continue to use it.

We've been booking and staying at the Empress Hotel through hoteltravel.com for the past 7 years and have had wonderful experiences at the hotel. The front desk asst manager " Guy" was very nice to us and gave us an extended late check out until 5:00pm as our flight was at 7:15pm....all at no charge. Moreover, it is the people and exceptional service and friendliness, especially at the cafe ( the asst manager and Air, an exceptional waitress), who remember your names and preferences, that keep us going back year after year. The location is excellent and right next to the Shangrila Hotel where we had daily evening cocktails and dinner.......overall a 5 star Boutique Hotel experience at the price of a 4 star Thai Hotel.

Spacious room with good facilities. Hotel located just off the main street. Walking distance to night market.I would consider that it is value for money for the hotel rate.

We have stayed several times at the Empress and will do so again if we will visit Chiang Mai in the future. Situated close to the Night Market, ten minutes by foot. You have access to everything close to the hotel. And fairly priced.

Although the hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the night market, it is a pleasant walk, or tuk tuks are always available. The hotel is well presented and clean. We have stayed here a couple of times now and would not hesitate to stay again. For the standard of accommodation, it represents good value for money.

We requested a non-smoking room, but we were put in the smoking room without any explanation. When we called they said they would give us a non-smoking rom the next day, but there was no contact from them. A bit disappointed.. otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

We booked two superior rooms with King Size bed but was given one room with King Size bed and another with a Queen Size bed - I guess they don't have that many King Size bed because when we wanted to check in early, they told us that since we wanted King Size bed, we have to wait till after 12pm but when we finally check in later, we were given only 1 King Size bed. Anyways, it's great value for money. The room is clean even though the bathroom is a little small but the water pressure is strong, a/c is also cold enough. The breakfast is good. There's wifi access - you need to purchase the card THB150 for 1 hour which you can use anytime until the 1 hour is used up. If you're staying longer, you can purchase a 12hour card. Getting a hotel taxi to the airport is expensive - THB200!!! therefore either you go out to the street and get a meter taxi or if you have the phone of a meter taxi you can call, that's even better.

We've stayed at the Empress twice before. Good value for the money. However, the construction of the convention center was noisy and often blocked the walk path to the main road. Excellent breakfast buffet, better than some other Chiang Mai Hotels that we've stayed at. Curtious staff. We so plan to return there again. Must book reservations ahead because many tour groups frequent this hotel and they are often full.

All was most acceptable - except when a written offer on our welcome letter of 50% off laundry charges was not honoured the manager was rude & abusive when we questioned the charges (on the final bill) - we wonder "if he treats paying guests that way - we shudder to think how he treats his staff".

The service is friendly, and the flowers at bedtime are a nice touch, however there were no movie channels available which was surprising for a major hotel like The Empress.

Good value for money. Deluxe room, a bit on the small side, has all facilities including kettle. Tiny tiny bathroom. Room decor OK. Room seemed clean but they did leave a bottle top on the bathroom floor for three days...I guess they couldn't bend down to pick it up in such a small bathroom:) Ten minute walk to the Night Bazaar (that can be a long way in the heat). Few other bars around. Good choice breakfast buffet, staff attentive. DON'T stay at this hotel unless you have confirmed the building/structural work in the hotel has finished. When you are jet lagged and tired you don't want some guy underneath with a hammer an chisel all day every day. Not an exaggeration! Would I stay there again...yes I think I would...just:)

A very good hotel which will use again if we are going to Chiang Mai some other time. One drawback, but a minor one, is that staff do not speak English well. It is passable but could be much better. This is not really a complaint but a suggestion for hotel staff to improve language knowledge as the majority of the guests are foreigners.

Empress Hotel is approximately 10 mins walk from the Chiang Mai Night Bazarr which makes it quite a convenient location. A short tuk tuk ride of around 40-50 baht's will see you there. Take the tuk tuk ride on the main road of Chang Klan rather than right in front of the hotel as they charge slightly more. The staff were commendable: friendly and professional. The buffet breakfast was good and the omeletes were to die for. The foyer and entrance of the hotel was impressive for Chiang Mai, however the rooms were average. Spacious, but the decor was quite old. Other than the room having a slight smell (which they were trying to cover up), the hotel represented good value for money overall. Would consider returning to Empress Hotel in the future.

This hotel is excellent value and within walking distance of the busy Night Bazaar. Having stayed here 6 times already i'll probably try somewhere else next time. The hotel seems to cater for a lot of functions and conferences. The rooms are ok but some appear a little tired and on 3 of my 6 occasions my requests were not met.

A lovely well-run hotel, and although large and luxurious still maintaining a friendly and very Thai atmosphere. The rooms are lovely, the swimming pool well-kept, the breakfast buffet serving all your heart could desire and the staff very professional and courteous. The hotel is located a bit away from the most touristed areas, which can be an advantage - meaning not too many tourists nearby , but also a disadvantage meaning one needs to take a taxi or tuk tuk if one wishes to visit many of the tourist spots.
