The Orchid's location right next to a mall with excellent shopping, restaraunts and movie theater was a real plus. Staff excellent; food poor - particularly breakfast where the food was cold and utensils were not clean (we ate breakfast late and the same spoons had been used for hours); room good but lacked additions that should be expected at this price and 4 star rating, eg Kettle, tea, coffee, cups; Hotel looks a little tired living on previous reputation. I give you these comments to assist you. We are expats living (and working) in Thailand for 2 years now and there are better Hotels at this price. (We` have tried many). They need to lift their game.

This hotel is a great value for the money. Anyone who would like to be pampered should go here. The facilities are clean, modern and we had a wonderful time with this as the base for our travels of northern Thailand. The restaurant Le Pavillion in the hotel was an unused place by the people who were staying here. It is an excellent French restaurant and I had the best meals there. It is a MUST for fine dining. Our room was always cleaned when we returned and I recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a safe, comfortable, and most enjoyable stay in northern Thailand.

The Orchid seems to be not quite the standard that iit was several years ago. The rooms are looking rather shabbby and I am not sure it is now worth the cost.

Bathroom slightly shabby. Could do with an update. Chipped tiles, but good sized pool with changing rooms. Didn't open till 8 a.m. and later at weekend. Rather disappointed with general standard and staff attitude as compared with 2 years ago and also with hotel I stayed in in Bangkok. O.K. but wouldn't be rushing back next time I'm in Chiang Mai. On main road, so plenty of tuk tuks, taxis and song tows available. Next to useful shopping arcade.

Adequate facilities, decent value, but nothing fancy. Staff was generally very friendly, helpful. Breakfast buffet was bountiful. Rooms are a bit rundown and will soon be in need of some sprucing up, but they were quiet.
