Rated #105 for all Bangkok hotels
The hotel is a short walk (500m) from both the skytrain and subway stations which is very convenient to get around Bangkok. The room was very clean and well appointed and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The small little tours office just off the Lobby offered some great tours that were only slightly more expensive (200-300B) than what you could pay at a regular travel agency along the street. The laundry service at the hotel is ridiculously expensive but there is a small laundry across the street that charges a third of the price. There are also quite a few very good restaurants with...

The place is very good. It is well maintained and centrally located. We did not find any difficulty in locating the hotel as the name is quite popular. The morning breakfast is a treat. The owner himself took keen interest in meeting the guests and talking to them to find out if everything is fine. This place is the best among all the hotels we stayed in Bangkok. I surely would recommend this hotel for very comfortable stay without pinching your pocket. I decided for this hotel after going through the reviews and it is great place.

This hotel have nice large rooms, starf is speaking well english and breakfast hour is nice. Best location for resturants on Soi 23 and near SKY-train. Nice outside bar is you are smoking.Only the pool is very small, so no swimming in the morning. Only for cool off.

On arrival I was not impressed by the receptionists who lacked a welcoming demeanour.
That said the other staff were fine and generally I enjoyed my stay and found the hotel to be good value for money.

Very cozy family run type hotel. Not a lavish accommodation but can be a home away home. Some improvements on food will make Tai Pan even better.

It is near to BTS Station & MRT Station by just 10 mins walk. At night can hang out by walking to Soi Cowboy in 5 mins time. The Breakfast was the same for the past 3 days stay, it will quite boring and not much choices. It is convenient for those who want to walk and using the public transport travel from one place to another using both BTS & MRT service.

Hotel location was very good, i could go to many places as listed on the hotel travel map by walked around 500meters to MRT & BTS station..the room was very quite...the toilet was very clean...i found some small cockroach in room and there was germs or tiny animals in bed itch all over my body but it's all gone when i moved to non smoking room..the staff was very friendly..i spent 6 nights there and the breakfast menu was totally the same..so boring.
i'll coming back again.

We spent 6 days in Tai Pan Hotel and the overall verdict is good. Large spacious rooms with very good room service available and perfect breakfast buffet. Location was perfect, just a short walk to sky train and shopping malls like Robinson. We travelled with our two children 5 and 7 years, despite our booking request they did not have two double bed configuration, so our kids got a mattrace and slept on the floor, not exactly the standard you are expecting in this class but it did work fine. The rooms where very quiet and pool and gym good standard.
Except the bed configuration it was a perfect place for family holiday. The staff was very friendly.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It is located only about 200 meters from the Soi Cowboy. It is however quiet. There is a high raise construction going on next door but does not seem to make much noise at the moment. I will stay again.

The hotel as a whole was functional, nothing fancy, but all needed facilities (equivallent to a Holiday Inn in the US). The staff was wonderful though, very helpful & polite, frequently went above & beyond my expectations (including late at night). Location was great also, close to Sukhumvit & very convienent to both the train & the subway. Also lots of restaurants & shops nearby (including a very nice fitness center). I would stay there again based on the great service & location.

Hotel is conveniently located not very far from Sky Train station (7-10 minutes by foot). Reception and lobby are looking great, but hotel itself and rooms need a little renovation. Room was spacious for two people and there was a remote control for air conditioning and lights - very convenient. Superior rooms have carpet floors, but carpets are in need of cleaning. Next to the hotel is a construction site, but during our stay it didn't bother us at all. Breakfast was OK, dining in the restaurant was a pleasent experience. Swimming pool is small but cosy. The staff was very friendly, polite and helpful - no problems at all. Overall it was well worth the money we paid and we would consider this hotel next time we're visiting Bangkok.

The hotel staffs are somewhat effecient whenever I made request- took them a good 20 mins for them to get additional towels to my room. Their service can do with more smiles. Nonethelss, they are very helpful and informative when I made inquiry about airport transfer and are more than willing to throw in some alternatives other than the hotel transport. The rooms I booked were smoky ...perhaps the previous guests were smokers? But that is no excuse as I suppose the staffs could use some freshener to mask the smell. My major disliking is its proximty to a street of red-light bars where the girls will taunt you and one has to make a big detour to avoid that street to the hotel.
It will be my third choice if I am to visit Bangkok again. Overall, I give it 2.5 out of rating of 6 where 6 is excellent.

i have recommended this hotel to a lot of people. Problem is their superior room does not have a queen size bed. you arrive to find 2 beds. The quality/comfort of the beds is hard at best. if you want a queen sized bed they will want you to pay an additonal 1000 baht per day. Next time I will be looking for another hotel in BKK.

Liked the location - close to everything
- MRT and Skytrain are excellent and cheap modes of transport
- Soi Cowboy and Soi 33 - great for nightlife
- Soi 22 and Sukhumvit - great food outlets catering to both cheap and expensive tastes
The room was average but service was good and staff were also friendly and professional. Be careful not to take a room on the side where construction is taking place next door. Also, choose a non-smoking room - I had one that smelt of stale smoke. Overall it was value for money.

My family & and I have often stayed at Tai-pan over the last 4 years. The staff (with one extremely rude exception) have been courteous and very helpful. However the overall standard of the hotel has deteriated noticeably in the last 12 months, possibly through cost-cutting. We have decided to give the Tai-pan a miss on our next visit.

Swimming Pool is small, tour desk is out to fleece the traveller and should be changed. Internet facility provided but quite expensive. We only took breakfast and being vegetarian, the kind of spread they had, we could at least find few things which was good. Heart of main road from where access to market, shopping, entretainment is quite good. Overall it is a good stay and value for money.

The room I got faced a construction site and it was pretty noisy. Work went on until quite late, even on Sunday. There were no other rooms available. The mattress was very hard and there were three single beds - the beds too small for a couple to share. On the positive side, location is excellent, and price is okay. The hotel was close to the Sky train station and other modes of transport were also readily available. Within walking distance of night life like Soi Cowboy. Restaurants offering various cuisines were also within walking distance. Sidewalk stalls on Sukhumvit offered all sorts of goods at reasonable prices.
Overall, I would not pick this hotel for my next visit to Bangkok.

Great location, next to subway and skytrain. A bit off the main road which makes it quieter, but construction of adjacent hotels/office buildings ensures lots of noise from 7AM until 9PM every day. So, don't plan on using the outside pool unless you like hammering.

Against hotel facilities, I have only used taxi service and tour desk. I referred it as poor because, the tour desk charged me for the tours I had booked but did not refund against the tours they could not conduct as promised. Other than this bitter experience, I would say that the hotel stay was value for money. The luxury we enjoyed matched the tariff.

The hotel staff was great, and the location was close to the Asok sky train station. On the downside it cost about 300 baht extra, to change $100.00 US. It is better to go to a bank to change money. Breakfest food like eggs and bacon should be cooked longer, and all cooked food should be kept warm until served, even on a buffet.
