I have stayed here 10 times since 2003 and have reviewed it favorably before. This time, I was surprised to find the hotel had made improvements. My room had been refurbished with new hardwood floors, freshly painted walls and an immaculately refreshed bathroom. The breakfast, already very good, had improved noticeably and I asked the staff about it and found out that the chef had been sent to a school to learn new methods. Very good food, clean, comfortable, safe rooms and an attentive polite friendly staff. Highly recommended for good price/quality value. This is a 3-star boutique hotel. Poo...

I was there during the recent political protest and airport closing in Nov-Dec 2008 and the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable.

It was nice that I could get a meal box upon check-out even though it was really early morning (5:30am) and the restaurant was still not open. Location is perfect and very near the touristic area. Worth staying there with reasonable prices.

the hotel was close to the skytrain (sala daeng station) and that is very convenient to get around bangkok. at night, the vicinity of the hotel is alive with night market, restaurants, cafes, food and convenience stores. the rooms are well insulated from traffic noise so we could sleep very comfortably. the breakfast was decent but i wished they had doughnuts!

Have stayed this hotel many times and it never lets me down. Accessible, very, for all transport, business, entertainment, shopping, dining and transport facilities. Staff friendly, courteous and helpful. Will continue to recommend this hotel to all colleagues and everyone I come across going to Bangkok. Good size, clean and all facilities required for the business traveller available in room and working. The hotels facilities are very good, especially like and always use the mezzanine library, relaxing and meeting area. Service excellent and courteous. Close to all transport, BTS, MRT, taxis, bikes and close to restaurants, bars, shopping and entertainment. Breakfast is always adequate, BUT, the restaurant is always empty. For GOOD REASON the food is absolutely, totally and utterly digraceful. Can honestly say I had the worst meal ever in over a thousand stays in hotels around the world. Improve this and this hotel becomes an even more recommendable venue. Lucky there are so many good restaurants close by. Sorry but the food is woeful, should be closed down and turn into more rooms. Cleanliness very good. The minimal moulding is just one of those things that can not be inhibited in the Bangkok climate. Every mode of transport available and convenient. Business services are probably a little less than adequate, but, the minimal amount used are fine. One problem experienced on many occassions here is the fax machine is away ffrom reception area and faxes received for my ro

This place is in a superb location, walking distance to the skytrain and night market. The rooms were standart, nothing special, but clean. We requested for a non-smoking room, but only got a smoking room instead. The stuff tried to compensate this by putting an air-purifier into the room as they didn't have any other room for us. All in all, good value for money, the breakfast was plenty as well.

Truly a boutique hotel, it is rather small overall but the room was comfortable for 3 guests (with an extra bed). The room was also decently appointed and very clean. Service at the front desk was average (bell hops weren't very enthusiastic). Breakfast selection can be improved (they offered exactly the same dishes throughout the 3 mornings we dined there). Quality of the food & beverage was above average though. Location wise, it is situated inside an alley, which can be tricky to find at night. But the sky train station plus tons of market stalls, street food stalls, shops (pharmacy, convenience stores) and restaurants are just a short walk away.

This smaller hotel is very conveniently located in a small soi off Thanon Silom beside Bangkok Bank headquarters. It is close to nearly BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway stations, making it easy to travel to areas such as Siam Square and Sukhumvit. It is also close to Silom nightlife, retaurants and bars. The room was a good size, very clean and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was good. The staff are very polite and helpful - on my second visit I was amazed that I was remembered with a friendly welcome. My only complaint was that I stayed in a room on a low floor at the front of the hotel overlooking the soi, where every day from around 8 in the morning until sundown a local security guard (not working for the hotel) blows his whistle directing traffic.

Fab location 3 mins from sky train and 1 min from Patpong and the night market. Staff were great and very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a very good range of choices from pancakes and omlettes etc to full Thai breakfast. Despite being right in the heart of things the rooms were very quiet and the beds very comfortable. Rooms were good and clean but could have done with a lick of paint!

The hotel is located in a soi off Silom Road. The soi busy by day but quiet at night, but there is 24 hour security and reception at the hotel. My room was at the back of the hotel and I had no problem with noise. The room was a generous size, well maintained and clean. THe public areas of this "boutique" hotel were very attractive, as the was the small courtyard garden and swimming pool. The buffet breakfast was good. The staff were polite and helpful. The hotel is located about 5-10 minutes was from Saladaeng BTS (skystrain) station and about 10-15 minutes from the Silom MRT (underground) station. It is close to the busy Silom nightmarket and entertainment district. I had a very pleasant stay.

Compared to some other hotels I have stayed at in Bangkok, Silom Serene was a little on the small side, especially around lobby. However, the rooms are clean, and kept to a high standard, and the staff friendliness is next to none. Didn't like the breakfast too much. It could do with a lilte improvement. Otherwise, a very good hotel for very good value for money.

The hotel has two outstanding virtues: it is in the heart of Patpong, and it is small. As for the second virtue, this only such because of the high standards of presentation, service and cleanliness. They call it a "boutique hotel", and if they mean by this that it is small and exclusive with an attention to avoiding the things that most frighten Western visitors, namely dirt, noise and hassle, then they have got it absolutely right.

We are a middle age group ( my wife, her sister and me) from the USA. We wanted a reasonably priced hotel with the highest satisfaction percentage as possible that would accommodate our 10 day stay, May 23rd through June 2nd. With the help of Hoteltravel.com, Serene Silom Hotel was our best choice. The room size was (roomy) excellent for a couple, however, an extra bed in the room made it cramped. We had nine pieces of luggage and yet we were able to move about with all luggage stowed away neatly. My wife and her sister are natural born Thais, from the Chiang Rai area. They were not completely satisfied with the morning breakfasts. They preferred more choices of their own native dishes, however, I liked the everyday changes to the oriental side of the menu and would give it two thumbs up. We ate most breakfasts and once dinner at the hotel. Overall, the food was very good to excellent. The location was excellent. Only a short walking distance (less than 5 minutes) you had access to the Sky Train and many of the low cost shopping areas (local market). A few minutes more and you would reach the Patpong district with over a hundred vendors in one area. I found this one great restaurant called the Carlton, just 5 minutes away. We all ate a Kobe steak meal for 360 baht. That’s less than 10 dollars US. What a deal!

i've stayed at this hotel many times over the past 5 yrs. I'm really disappointed this time round as I felt they were really impersonal. The lack of attention compared to the other times I've stayed made me decide this is the last time I'll be there. Anyway after 5 yrs and no refurbishing .... its getting a little run down.

Just two things: Fistly, the AC tried its best but failed to fully cool the room. It did promote an aromatic hint of mildew...maybe a new filter would help. Secondly, the bed, although ginormous, felt like I was sleeping on the sidewalk!! Very very hard...but that floats some people's boats!

Silom Serene is a solid 3 star choice offering excellent value for money. Rooms are spacious and clean. The location can't be beat, in the heart of Silom, a 5 min walk from the Skytrain and 2 min from Central Silom (shopping). The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is no great shakes, but adequate. I will definitely stay again and would recommend it to other leisure travellers.

I have stayed in Silom Serene Hotel three times for a list of many good reasons. On top of the list is the location. Its smacked in the middle of Silom Road where one can just walk out of the hotel to shop, eat and be entertained. Street food are abundance if one fancies innovative and delicious Thai hawkers fares. Even fine dining in restaurant like Mango Tree is just a 3 minutes stroll across the road. Worry about catching a taxi back from some fancy dance clubs in the wee hour of the morning? Worry no more. Most of the popular night spots, bars and clubs are all within walking distance. Needless to say the infamous Patpong night market street spiced with seedy bars is only a few blocks from where the hotel is. Traditional Thai massage centers and spas are all within reach. Despite of the commercial scene around the area, one can expect respectable comfort and welcoming charm from Silom Serene Hotel after a tiring day of exploring Bangkok.

I stayed 1 night in the Silom Serene hotel whilst passing through bangkok. From the beginning the staff were friendly and attentive. The room was immaculate and well equipped. The location was quick walk to night markets and restaurants. I was so impressed I tried to book there again for another few days on the way back through but unfortuantely it was fully booked by this stage. Would definitely reccommend this boutique hotel with everything a large hotel has to offer without the masses of guests.

I love this hotel. I have stayed here three times. It is a small, attractive and convienently located boutique hotel. The front desk staff are extremely helpful and friendly as are the housekeeping and restaurant staff. I like to stay here because it is in the heart of the business district so I can walk to many good restaurants and shopping venues. It is next to a bank if you need to change money and close to the skytrain, the subway or one can always get the doorman to call a taxi. The rooms are clean and attractive with cable TV, minibar, king-sized bed, chairs and writing desk. There is always a fresh orchid in the room. The restaurant serves a buffet breakfast every morning: fresh fruit and a variety of western and asian dishes, omelettes, rice soup, noodles, etc. The restaurant overlooks an attractive garden pool area. The outdoor pool is a nice size, clean and there is also a jacuzzi. You can lounge on the deck around the pool and even eat your meals at the poolside tables.

In this age of standardisation, there is usually very little that distinguishes one hotel from another. Therefore, it is ultimately the little things that really makes a hotel endearing. The courteousness of the reception staff, the thoughtful Concierge who quietly hands you an umbrella when it is raining outside and the genuine smiling welcomes and farewells are the hallmarks of a great hotel. Apart from these little extras, a hotel located close to both business and entertainment centres, amazingly convenient communication and close travel facilities is a huge bonus. Hotel Silom Serene is such a hotel. My wife and I will return here again and again for the rest of our lives!
