This place appears good in its pictures but don't be decieved. Our first impression was a weird odur in the elevator and then we saw our room which completely blew us away by the smell of smoke. The staff speak little to no english, trying to organise things through the hotel proved to be quite difficult. However the hotel is positioned close enough to walk to all the major shopping areas within Siam. My advice would be to find somewhere else to stay. But if your desperate then it will do.

Best and neat Hotel with reasonable room rent. I never faced any problem during my stay at Hotel room. Since the Hotel is on the main road i.e., Pethchburi Road.
Since our room was on the back side of the Hotel. There is a seperate desk for foreign tourists with full information of the tourist places alongwith Photo

What I like most in Samran Place is its location, very near to shopping areas which includes the most popular big malls like SIAM PARAGON, MBK, etc. You can even take a walk to reach malls and markets. The Tour Packages offered at the reception is very affordable and provides good service. Our room is big enough and clean. I will recommend this to my friends.

The Airport Express #2 now does not stop in front of this hotel.
The nearest you can get is the Ratchathewi Skytrain Station [Airport Express #4] - a little too far to walk if you have much luggage. Not that far if you take a taxi from there - or anywhere in the central area for that matter.
Aside from an airport "service fee" on a taxi leaving the airport, the meter fare is a little less than 200 baht in a proper meter taxi.
Otherwise, this hotel suits me fine - one of the best I've stayed at in BKK.

A reasonable location which a few kilos of distance to the Pratunam Shopping areas. The taxi fares are reasonable to the Pratunam and Chartucak weekend Market Amazingly, it is near to Masjid and Muslim Halal Restaurants & stalls, they are just at the opposite-side of the road. The hotel is quiet, clean and cheap for the budget travellers but no 2nd time refill (free)for the breakfast though.

Location is very good - It's very closed to BTS Ratchatewi (5mins walk). Because of heavy traffic around Siam Paragon, you'd better take a BTS to Siam. Construction noise is going on, but it's not too much. Room facilities is very clean. Everything is over average. I think Samran Place is very economical choice.

Good value for the internet price [about 850 baht]. Close enough to the skytrain [Ratchathewi station] and bus stop to enable travel nearly everywhere. Airport bus [AE2] stops right in front FROM airport. Taxi TO airport cost just under 200 baht.
Included breakfast is not buffet, but a choice of several styles [including Asian] that should suffice for most people. Though there is construction going on next door [Nov 2007], the noise level was not bad - most work is during the day anyhow.
Will certainly stay here again!

If you don't have so much money, I will recommend this hotel. It was cheap and the standard of the hotel was ok, and it was not far away from the shopping centre's at Siam, you can actually walk to the shopping area. if you wish to travel some around Bankok it is also very close to the nearest skytrain station. If you are tired from Shopping at Siam you can take a tuc tuc home to your hotel and it will cost you only 30bath.... and if you are good to bargain you might get it down to 20 bath. So the location is very good and the quality is ok besides that it is very cheap.... So I would recommend this hotel to you if you are travelling on a budget.

I am very satisfied with Samran Place. The room and bathroom was very clean and had no smell at all. The carpets were brand new. The bed was very comfortable. It was also quiet. The room TV had good reception but limited channels. Excellent for the price charged. The location is excellent. It did not turn out as what I expected. Its website looked great, but in reality, the hotel is much more old and rundown. I stayed on the 3rd floor and just outside my room on the ground level, there was construction going on, even after 10.30pm. I had trouble sleeping because it was pretty noisy. Clean, with minibar, dresser, working air-condition. Bathroom is bright and clean. The toilet had a strange bubbling thing that occurred once every hour or so, which initially freaked me out. The bed is too soft for my liking and I woke up with a backache after the first night (also due to the noise and being freaked out by bubbling toiletbowls). The walls are pretty thin, so you'd hear what's going on outside.
If you don't mind walking a little (about 5-10mins) to the train station, for the price you're paying for this hotel, it is acceptable. There aren't any decent shopping around the hotel and I had trouble getting metered-taxis and even tuktuks to bring me back to the hotel. The food is so-so, definitely not as Thai as it seems to be. Breakfast is from their menu; please give the crossaint a miss (as good as eating dough). Hotel staff are ok. Affordable. Don't expect super location, shopping, food and service if you don't want to pay for it.

It's a good location with skytrain nearby which took us about 5 minutes to walk to the station. Breakfast was good with western and Thai varieties. We stayed in the Deluxe room. I had specified for a double bedroom when I made the reservation but was given a twin bedroom. Extra pillow will cost 50B. We were asked to go down to collect the hair dryer at the counter when requested for it. We were also given a room facing the main road and therefore the presence of road noise all the time. The toilet was unbearably small though the room is reasonably sized for comfort. The room was made up everyday with towels changed. It is about 10 to 15 mins away from the Ratchathewi BTS station. The taxi drivers don't know the way to the hotel, we had to show them the map before locating it.
I thought upgrading to a bigger room would ensure a better stay but apparently it's not. Keep to your budget, stick to the standard room.

Samran Place is definitely value for money. Given the money you pay and the room/food/service you get, it is definitely worth it if you are on budget and wanted the best. Being near to Asia Hotel, it's near to the BTS. It 's also near to MBK and other major shopping areas. The breakfast was nice but limited in serving since it's not buffet style. As for the room, furnishings are adequate and simple.Although the room was clean, it's a bit smelly (think ppl smoke in there). I will definitely use it again when I am in BKK.
