The welcome on arrival was overwhelming and fantastic. The shuttle bus takes all the worry away about being out of town. View over the river were facinating. We will certainly stay at the Montiem Riverside many times in the future....

Hotel accomodations were excellent as was the staff in ensuring that our stay was very pleasant. While the location is relatively far from city center, the cost to reach it is extremely reasonable. All in all, I would definitely reccomend this hotel. It provides all the amenities at a very reasonable price.

We have stayed at the Montien Riverside many times usually as our jet lag stop before continuing onto other areas of Thailand. The breakfast buffet is top of the line. The Vietnamese restaurant is excellent. The other restaurants are very good. The rooms are large and all overlook the river. The pool is nice and uncrowded. You can see many people at breakfast that are on tours and their schedule is arranged so no time for even the pool. The negatives for some folks is that you cannot walk to any interesting sites nor are there any on the street massage places nearby nor is there an ATM machine around. However, taxis are cheap, there is a shuttle bus to the Taksin pier and to the center city Montien Hotel. For shopping going to center city is the best butdepends on what you want. From Taksin pier you can take free shuttle boats to River City which is next to the Royal Orchid Sheraton and even across to the Peninsula Hotel across the river. Taxies to the Menam Hotel are about 35-40 Baht. We do that since they have a number of massage places in front of the hotel, some restaurants, and ATM down the street (the first one if on for Thai issued ATMs) go to the second one past the Internet place (20 baht per hour), there are also fruit stores that are used by the locals. We have stayed at five hotels at Riverside (on the river) and find the Montien Riverside our best fit for our needs. The taxi service counter is reliable too. And for about 150 baht per hour you can get you own taxi for as long as you want. That is an easy way get to see a number places esp. if you have children or want to go at your convenience without having a scheduled tour.

This hotel was far away from the center of town, much father then I imagined. It is too much trouble to travel back & forth, so for that reason I would not stay there again. There is no view, even from a high room. Nothing to see from that area. The staff were very friendly & helpful though.

There is nothing around the hotel. They charge for use of the in-room safe.

Great rooms and bathrooms, good river views, friendly staff - but very poor location for shopping and entertainment. If you want to spend most of your time in your hotel, this is for you. If you want to be out and about, this one is too far away from the action. Overall, though, fabulous value for wonderful rooms in a lovely hotel. Very nice restaurants and excellent food. Only irritation was the hidden pricing of some things (similar to the 100 baht charge to use the safety box in the room!). We decided to have tea and cake at the cafe, and as friends of mine were to pay, I checked out the price first. The cakes were very reasonable, only 40-50 baht each. So we ordered three teas and cake. When the bill came, the cakes were correctly priced, but the tea cost us 120 baht plus 17% tax each. Nowhere on the menus or in the restaurant was the price of the tea displayed. One would not have expected the tea to cost more than the cake. This short-sighted rip-off left a sour taste and certainly stopped us from taking further meals in the hotel. No-one likes nasty surprises!!

The staff at The Montien Riverside are very friendly and always helpful. The breakfirst is delicious, you have everything in this American breakfast buffet that you will need. The rooms seems to be a little dated compared to my first visit four years ago. Also I didn't really see a big difference between ordinary rooms and executive rooms if any difference at all. You have a great view from the room and the bathroom is beautiful and top notch. Pool area works very well, especially great for small children. When you book this hotel you have to know that it takes at least 20 minutes to go to downtown. It is nice to know that they provide you with a free shuttle bus going to Montien at Patpong every hour. Overall it's a good four star Hotel, for me "great value for money"
