Rated #147 for all Bangkok hotels

It has been excellent value for money! I did not expect this standard of hotel and room for the price I paid - it was only possible because the rate was obtained through HotelTravel.com ( I intended to stay there again the following week, but was quoted a rate almost double by the hotel reception). It was very convenient - easy walking distance from both the MRT as well as the BTS stations. Food wise, it was really good too with many choices of eating places within a few minutes walk. Another important factor for consideration is that access is easy for those with difficulties walking up stair...

The Manhattan Hotel is an average hotel, but is in an excellent location for the Asoke/Sukhumvit interchange for BTS rail and the underground rail , to use teh network as access to eg weekend market, other malls and plaza's as well as hotels and places of entertainment and Robinson's store within 60 metres walking

The service from the employees at the Manhattan was excellent. ***** Service, and the hotel is to be congratulated for that. Missing from your selection was the bigger rooms which i would have preferred seeing it would have only been an additional 600 baht a night. Cafe food was very good, along with a very speedy room service meals. Breakfast ...... mmmmm ..... well i have to say a poor selection for people used to American style breakfasts. This is common in asia, but the basic bacon, eggs, tomato, hash brown, baked beans, etc would be appreciated by many customers i can assure you, and it is cost effective. Bed size was BIG king size, and the hot water, and bath excellent. Rooms are probably becoming old in style and feeling along with the cockroaches ... but it is asia. All in all a plesant stay.

Good value for money and the staff very freindly. Good location to visit and shop in Bangkok. The hotel is very conveniently located just 5 minutes walk mid distance from 2 BTS stations (between Nana and Asok stations), as well as the Sukhumvit MRT next to Asok station. There was a lot of construction building going on next to the hotel therefore the noise level was very poor.

I have stayed at the Manhattan previously, but probably won't again. The hotel is becomming rundown and the two rooms my travel party had both had a bad cockroach problem. The location is good and so is the breakfast, but the hotel needs some work done on it.

I like the spaciousness of the room and the overall cleanliness but somehow I do see some stain which is not supposed to be on the bed sheet itself. The replenishment of the water is not consistent as it misses 1 day of my 4 days stay. The staff is helpful and the food is averagely good.I would hope to stay once again there as everything is being done averagely nice enough.

The staff at The Manhattan Hotel in Sukhumvit soi 15 were in general OK and friendly, however the night staff clearly did not like their job eg. Khun Prasit appeared to be drunk at work and did his utmost to be of inconvenience to all guests around him. The breakfast was rather standard nothing to write home about. The rooms were small and poorly maintained, Eg. coffee machine did not work and the AC managed to create a pool of water in the room during the night, apart from that did the TV not have any proper english speaking channels like BBC, HBO, CNN etc. The internet service was extremely expensive, - they offered maximum time of 90 minutes and that for 200THB, so 24 hrs would cost 3,200THB which is about 10 times more than any 5 star hotel in Bangkok The Manhattan hotel will indeed be a one time experience for me and I can not recommend this hotel for anyone.

My Husband Dr Phillip Murray and I have stayed here in 2004, 2005, 2006, and now in 2008. The location is excellent and the Staff are remarkably friendly honest and try so hard to be helpful. There is a great deal of construction noise about and over this they have no control. The enthusiastic helpfulness of both the Reception Staff - the Dining area and our room has been a delight. One flaw that could be easily fixed is : We have an Apple Mac G4 Power Book and regularly download from Internet photos and "Skype" our family and friends. Bought a 90 minute card when we realised WiFi was available in room. Big mistake. First would not complete a log on via Firefox - waste time and go to Safari (which does not have active access auto to addresses) and connect - used for 35minutes and then could NOT disconnect. Phoned desk and a charming assistant came up and puzzled too - but disconnected via logging his own number in and got it sorted but by this time had 7 minutes left. Later bought another 90 minute card and after day at Floating Market - Via Safari went on line to check if anyone was on Skype. No it was too late in Australia though only 6pm here. Once again I could not log out and as Staff was short had to bring our power book downstairs (in my gown as I was about to shower) Assistant was helpful but puzzled and unable to sort issue not familiar with Mac. Offered the Hotel Machine to balance loss. This was kind and when I had time tried. Alas it did NOT have Skype which I temp downloaded and took about 4 minutes and then was unable to use as there was an error with sound. Staff were trying so hard to be helpful - got out headphones and mike - to no avail. This is for PHONING and all we wanted was computer to computer connection. This was not possible. So settled for trying to email family members who were flying out today. May we comment the Staff tried so hard and say a staff member with Apple comes on 5pm tonight. You do need an awareness card that wi fi does not connect with Firefox and has issues with both apple and skpye. Seeing how many millions use skype world wide feel this should be addressed and note it is a free service for computer to computer but must have a microphone and a sound card. Otherwise we find your Hotel very enjoyable to stay in and the Staff exceptionally friendly helpful and attentive also they quickly learn your name and room number. Our Room Service Lady in 803 was SO effecient and pleasant - top marks for her services and anyone who is not happy with breakfast must be very very hard to please. Feels a bit like coming home when we arive which is truly a remarkable effort seeing we missed last year. The Hotel is not new but constantly being attended too. The pool is delightful and pool service was good.We are leaving today ,if the good Lord wills it - hope to come again next year.

The hotel staff is friendly and services are prompt. The location is so close to the main road and BTS station that we didn't have any problem in our goods-hunting walks. Other than Robinson, there are no Shopping Malls closeby. But it is not a big problem as we were able to use the train to go to areas like Chit Lom where there were Shopping Malls. We didn't find good eating places for Thai Food nearby. May be beause our stay was too short ( 4 days) Room charges are very reasonable and it's really worth for the money. I will definitely stay in this Hotel in my next trip and also recommend to anybody with busy schedules.

I like the location...just less than 100 mtrs from the main Sukhumvit Rd and within walking distance of Asok SkyTrain and MRT Stations. Room is comfortably clean and staff are polite and friendly and ever willing to help answer our queries and attend to our needs. I will certainly put up at Manhattan Hotel Bangkok on my next visit and I would recommend it to my friends. Only had the buffet breakfast -reasonably good breakfast fare with choice of American and Asian breakfast. Clean and comfortably spacious room. No foul smells in the room...and most importantly, sheets are clean and changed everyday. Very convenient place ....near public transport. Walking distance to Skytrains and MRT Stations. Metered taxis are available in front of the hotel and if you are game for it, there are also motorcycle taxis!

There were helpful, staff and all were pleasant. However, the night staff in the restaurant brought the wrong food which was clearly their mistake (language difficulty): we said we would pay for the items we had ordered and after a brief, not unfriendly exchange, agreed to our request. When we left and I recounted my change, I discovered that they had charged us the higher rate anyway. We were not impressed. Also, their taxi desk routinely tried to charge us rediculously high fares, so we always had to find our own taxis at a third of the price. This did not happen at our other hotels in Bangkok. Other than that, service was ok, but the bad parts definitely coloured our perspective. Over charged consistently for taxis at their transport desk. However, hotel is quite close to the sky train, which is good. Two tailor made suits were delivered to me at the hotel / room #, but were placed in a closet near the luggage area and nev er delivered to me in my room; I had to go looking for them, phone the tailor, etc. Many taxi drivers did not know where the hotel was located.

I have stayed at Manhatten a few times four years back when I used to visit Bangkok on official work. I like it very much then and recommended the hotel to many friends and relatives but after four years I find it to be deteriorated in many ways. Poor service, neglected attendence and lack of warmth were a few of the significant areas. In spite of repeated request to change the room after the very first day, it never happened till I left.

Arrived at late evening and told that requested non-smoking rooms were not available. But staff were very courteous and friendly, and gave us executive rooms instead of superior as booked to show their sincerity for the mistake made. Location of hotel is excellent. Within easy access to BTS and MRT, just a few minutes walk away. Robinson and McDonalds is just around the corner. We booked a hotel minibus for 11 to Pratunam for shopping as it is away from the BTS line. took 15 mins to reach. Very worth it as we don't have to take 3 seperate taxis and can alight together at a place we're not familiar with. Breakfast items are the same everyday and could do better if there are more variety. Overall a good and safe place to stay. Will definitely consider the Manhattan for my next stay in Bangkok. Room is large and clean. courteous and friendly staff and very attentive. very near BTS and MRT; food and shopping outlets within easy reach. breakfast not very exciting, same old stuff everyday.

We had booked standard room with king size bed but when we reached we were given superior room with two single beds. Also, the air conditioning was not working. The hotel staff shifted us to a good room with king size bed the next morning. Overall, the hotel is excellent for the budget and very conveniently located between two skytrain stops, both of which are walking distance. Shopping areas are just outside and family marts are a stone's throw. The help desk and tour operators at the hotel are very good and with the breakfast being superb. Room service is prompt and tasty. Only issue we did not like was the television which aired only one english channel i.e. chaneel news asia. No CNN or BBC and no sports channels. CNN was however being aired at the restaurant. Bathrooms were very clean and housekeeping excellent. All in all we would stay again at this hotel.

This hotel is old and showing it's age. The lobby is very nice, no bar though. The rooms are old and need updating with staining of walls and ceilings. The shower is pulsatile and either to hot or too cold and cannot be regulated consistantly so that you can just shower, you have to continually adjust water to keep from be scalded. This hotel was less money last year but they have raised rates considerably, it was a good value at B1200, but now is $45 USD per night and there are better values in Bangkok, I will probalby not stay there again. I asked to stay an extra night and was flatly and rudely turned down because they said they were booked, they didn't even try to accommodate me or take my name and put me on some type of wait list in case of cancellations.

The Manhattan Hotel is in an excellent location with two skytrain stops and many shops within a short walking distance. The staff was very friendly, and the public areas were well-maintained and quite nice. The rooms however were a definite weak point. They were a good size, but well-worn, dimly lit, and in need of fresh paint and carpet. Despite several requests, we were also placed in rooms with two smalls beds instead of one double bed. There were also only 2 channels in english on the tv - both "public-service" type broadcasting. However, if you do not plan to spend much time in your room, this hotel is still fine - and if the rooms were upgraded would be excellent. The one warning is that families and sensitive couples need to be aware that bus tour groups from local countries were returning to the hotel with "guests" in tow several of the nights I was there. This was no real concern for me, but some may be bothered by it.

The hotel room was a old and dirty. No vent in the bathroom so the steam just flowed into the room. But it was an ok place to stay and seemed same.

the hotel would have been an above average one if they provided hot water in the evening. in the afternoon, the water is always hot, by 7/8pm it cools down considerably.....thus it is not a room problem with a problem with the boiler. i tried to complain several times, they tried avoid the issue by doing this: 1. sending up maintenance, when i told them it was not a maintenance problem. 2. maintenance turned the taps on and off several times, said water was warmer...it was not. 3. i tried to call manager again, phone was engaged...for 30 minutes continuously....could it be they are ignoring my calls on purpose? 4. complained to front desk regarding the ongoing situation. 5. they sent up manager. he offered change rooms. i said i wanted to check the water temperature in the room offered to see if it would be warmer and worth me switching...it was not warmer.. .....i think the ploy for you to switch rooms is a psychological one....if you did switch many would feel embarrassed about raising the issue yet again. i complained more, the manager eventually admitted that many tourists complain about the lack of warm water. they have a solar panel to heat water, therefore no sun in evening = no hot water. WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME THIS IN THE BEGINNING? i feel i was systematically lied to and ignored so they wouldn't have to face the problem. the manager still did not apologise to me about the water, nor did he offer compensation. this hotel management is terrible

Room was clean, quiet and large - the bed was comfy. Bathroom was nice - shower hot and water pressure good. The fridge had two complementary bottles of water each day. Room had build-in air con that was always on when we arrived back. There was a safe in the room as well. Breakfast was plentiful, with everything you would expect, and was open from 6 to 10. The only slight problem was that some of our TV channels stopped working during our stay - hardly a downside tho and didn't really affect our trip at all. All in all a great hotel which was well worth the money we paid - would stay there again and recommend it to everyone.

This hotel always give value for money. Size adequate - beds comfortable - bathroom okay. The location is excellent with Nana and Asok skytrain stations close by. Breakfast not quite as good as on previous occasions; however, it is still very good. Biggest problem is access to the swimming pool! Swimming pool is difficult to access and impossible for anyone with a physical disability. Even though it is on street level, can only be accessed from third floor down steps on outside of building. Reception staff pleasant and check in procedures easy.

I stayed two nights there and 1st night was okay they gave me a room in the higher floor it was clean and good lights but 2nd time when I came back it was third floor and from the window only we could see the next building which was under construction and the room was very very dark and lighting facility was poor. So it really depends on the room.

This hotel is located near the public transport (Asoke Skytrain/Sukhumvit MRTA) so it's easy getting around and it's not difficult to find a taxi either. Just next to the hotel there's a minimarket. Breakfast was about average, the menu was the same everyday (we stayed 2 nights) but they have quite a choice (they provide special korean breakfast). Standard room, quite spacious, bathroom a bit dark and there were noise from other people opening & closing the door to the rooms. Oh one more thing, the air condition was freezing! Couldn't seem to control the temperature. At night there's night market nearby. Robinson is just few mins walk. Overall it's a nice stay.

I must say the hotel location is excellant.Very convenient as sky train and subway station just a few steps from it accessing to local market and downtown shopping complex. You can do street shopping along the nights. Hotel environment a bit old perhaps can be upgraded in future expecially with the room's lighting. Little choice for breakfast and almost the same everyday. May consider for staying if look at the price and the location.

The hotel is located at central of Bangkok, you can walk to BTS and MRT station on foot within 5-8 minutes. If you walk to BTS station, Asok is near. The hotel is quite old, the room facilities is worn. I lived in this hotel twice during my trip, the first room is facing a construction site, so the view is blocked by an old removing building. The room facing the street is better. However, some room facilities are not good, for example, one door of closet is missed. The taxi serivce is not good. I asked the bell boy to call a taxi for me and ask him tell the taxi driver use meter, but they only put all my luggage inside the car and that's it without saying anything. Thus I have to negotiate with the taxi driver with the rate.To sum up, location and value is excellent, but faciliies is old.

The Manhattan is a very comfortable and friendly hotel with good facilities and an excellent staff. I have been staying at the Manhattan when visting Bangkok for about eight years now. The location is excellent, the rooms are nice and clean, and the staff is excellent. I recommend the Manhattan to my friends, who stay there as well. Even the very discerning ones. Other hotels try to come close to the value, quality, and friendlieness of the Manhatta, but so far, none has come close. They get a lot of tourist business, so its wise to book well ahead of your travel, let you find you have to stay somewhere else.

When we check in at around 3.00 p.m, the staff there ask us to wait for room cleaning, and after 20 mins of waiting, inquire to the receptionist again for the room availability, and he told us to wait for an hour as the rooms are fully occupiedl!!!! Have an argument with the staff as we have booked earlier they should have reserved the room for us. Later on the manager intervened and he gave a room in immediately without waiting....was wondering why the staff asking us to wait for such a long time while the manager could give us the room instantly........ Was satisfied with the room, and the hotel is also stratergically located very near to the skytrain and mrt station. Overall value for what you paid for... will stay there again despite the above incident...

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The first day our room had an awful view on a building under construction which was very near my window, but the other days were fine. Rooms was ok, but breakfast was not good. However, we are happy with the hotel. Because this hotel is at a very strategic location as it is only 2-3 mins walk to the Asok or Nana Station for the SkyTrain. For the price that we paid and because of the locality, we may come back to this hotel.

I stayed only 2 nights in this hotel. The room had an awful view on a building under construction which was very near my window. When I checked in, it was in the middle of the afternoon, but the curtains was drawn. I understood the reason why when I opened the curtains. And out of 3 lamps available in the room, only 2 were working; the room was very gloomy all day long.

Excellent value for money, friendly helpful staff and good location near to the entertainments centres. Breakfast buffet was very good with chefs available to cook omlettes or fried eggs. Minor point was that the bath plug did not fit but the shower worked well. Room a bit dingy, could do with redecorating and brightening up.

We stayed in a triple room which was really huge in size. The room could have easierly accomodated another bed. However, lighting in the rooms were a little too dim to my liking. Other than that, we are happy with the room. Hotel lobby was a little shabby and old. Hotel is at a very strategic location as it is only 2-3 mins walk to the Ashok Station for the SkyTrain. For the price that we paid and because of the locality, we will come back to this hotel.

The room is big, clean and well maintained. This is the second time that I'm staying at Manhattan Hotel and I'll definitely want to stay there again. The hotel is very conveniently located just 5 minutes walk mid distance from 2 BTS stations (between Nana and Asok stations), as well as the Sukhumvit MRT next to Asok station. The shopping centre /food court at Robinsons is also less than 10 mins away and there are night market stalls alongside Sukhumvit Rd, the main road just a minute walk outside the hotel. With the rates offered by Hoteltravel.com, it is really a gem! The room and cafe is excellent and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended! At Hoteltravel.com's rates, it is most certainly value for money.

Another important factor for consideration is that access is easy for those with difficulties walking up stairs - only 1 step up to the lobby from the front driveway access. Will really recommend it and intend to stay there again, with rates from HotelTravel of course!

Manhattan is an older but clean hotel. I like it for the location and proximity to entertainment venues. Lately, it has been hard to reserve a room due to construction. It is my favorite hotel in the Sukumvidt area and I stay here frequently when I can, it is my first choice hotel in this area. Great value for the money.
