Rated #75 for all Bangkok hotels
excellent location in Chinatown, whih is I guess the cheapest area in Bangkok for street shopping and restaurants, close to main atractions and river. Clean, good size roms. Swimingpool quite small, but on the roof with beautifule view. Restaurant on top floor is turning around, so while you have dinner, you wil see Bangkok from every side. But the best of all is breakfast, with choice of everything you wuld expect to have and even more. ...

This is our favourite hotel in Bangkok. I love the location right in the heart of chinatown and the staff are really nice, low key and professional. Only drawback is the swimming pool area which is tiny but luckily for us hardly anyone uses it so it wasn't a problem. The revolving bar is a delight as you can see the river lit up at night whilst sipping a drink.

The courtesy and hospitality displayed by the staff and concierge were excellent as usual. We were very happy with the size of the room, the quality of the daily breakfast buffet and the location of the hotel. This has probably been about the twentieth time we have stayed at the Grand China Princess and will continue to stay there in our future travels to Bangkok. R. Tao

Though it may be good in terms of cleanliness, etc, you will have a slight problem if you are travelling with elderly persons as it can be quite a bit of a walk to the famous food strip in the evenings. Unless you intend to eat at the hotel, but then again it would defeat the purpose of staying in Chinatown in the first place! Definitely better than the other 2 hotels just next to the famous hawkers though. Loads of stuff to buy at wholesale prices. The cabbies keep trying to cheat at every opportunity - insist on meter or get out of the cab. Don't worry there are loads around.

In Bangkok there is only one cluster of must-see sights, and few hotels near. Sights are spread over a vast area, and public transportation is limited to one subway line and a skytrain. I like Chinatown area for in-your-face ambience, proximity to river, and the Grand China Princess is a great deal and has a/c throughout, and every amenity you could desire (except for free-or affordable-wifi in room). I've stayed there four times.

We requested for transfer to a room with cleaner and newer bathroom, which they complied. The staff are generally courteous and friendly. Location-wise, it is quite far from skytrain or MTR. Taxi service is convenient though.

We have been regular patrons of the Grand China Princess Hotel since 2002 and have stayed there at least two or three times each year since then. The staff is excellent and courteous, the breakfast buffet is great and the location is extremely convenient for us. We will continue to use this hotel in the future. R. Tao

Have stayed at GCP 6 times, front desk/reception staff vastly improved. Whilst always courteous previously, there were generally difficulties with getting the rooms as ordered. This time a breeze. Some rooms have been updated with modern shower. All rooms immaculately clean, and well maintained. Staff seem to be going out of their way to make a pleasant stay. Some parts of breakfast food a little cold, even shortly after opening. Very wide range of food available. Revolving restaurant reasonable priced, good food, live entertainment. Outside, Chinatown is always abuzz. Shopping in the tiny lanes around GCP is claustrophobic, but a bargain hunter's delight. 204 bus from nearby river pier stops just left of front door, and takes you to MBK shopping centre, get off at National Stadium. GCP has lifted it's game, and is even better value for money than previously.

The Grand China Princess is right in the centre of the busy Chinatown area with plenty of activity on your doorstep. Just a short stroll to the Chao Phraya river for a water taxi. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The size of the rooms are suitable for two people but the bathroom was very small, poorly lit and could benefit from redecorating. The taxi service arranged by the hotel was swift and reasonable.

This was the second time my wife and I have stayed at GCP. We returned as we feel it is good value for money. It's location in China town and proximity to river for transport either up or down is also a plus. It is situated quite close to the main attractions, ie Palace, Wat Pho, etc. The breakfast is excellent and we found the staff more than accomodating.
We would have no hesitation staying here again.

A great place to stay! Returned to the Grand China Princess after a very pleasant stay there 3 years ago. Nice bright and spacious room with great views, very clean, quiet. Bathroom a bit tired, but also very clean. Breakfast buffet with excellent choice for every taste, restaurant staff efficient. Receptionists and concierge polite, we arrived early and got a room within half an hour. There are fantastic views over buzzling Bangkok from the terrace on the 23rd floor, the skypool is small but it's OK for a quick dip. Good location, the busy sois of Chinatown are fascinating. To get to other places, use the river express boats (10 minutes walk to the pier, until about 7pm - cheap and much better than being stuck in the congested roads). In the evening traffic dies down, returning by tuktuk from Rattanakosin cost less than 100 Baht. Definitely recommend staying there.

This was a very average hotel for a reasonable price. No surprises, but mo disasters either. Breakfast ok, but always the same every day so a little jaded by the 5th day. Basically you get what you pay for and other than the swimming pool, which was ridiculously small, everything lived up to expectations.

This hotel is a real find, staff are low key, friendly and helpful so immediately there's a nice atmosphere.Brilliant location, lots of interesting places nearby and just a short walk from the river so getting about isn't difficult so long as journeys are planned.Exceptional and many eateriers in the immediate area and the standard of food is certainly high so we were spoilt for choice. However food in this area although excellant is expensive. We will without a doubt use this hotel again.

As other people have mentioned the hotel is perhaps not in the best location, although its not a great problem. Taxis are cheap in Bangkok, so even with a tip we averaged 100 Bht to practically anywhere in the City. Alternatively a 5 min walk to the river and the river express boats go up and down for 2o Bht. The hotel itself is great value for money, the rooms we had (we stayed 3 seperate times on our trip) were very large, although the bathrooms are a little tired and could do with updating. But if they do update the bathrooms, no doubt they will be able to charge a lot more. The kids enjoyed the pool on the roof, but to be honest its more of a plunge pool. That said the views from up there are fantastic. Being in the middle of China Town its very busy around the hotel, and we found some great eating places which we would not have gone to if we hadn't stayed there. Some taxis wont go to the hotel at peak times as the roads are very busy, but its not a great problem, just hail another one (or use the river bus). Breakfast was pretty good, with a large selection. Would we stay there again...Yes....although we would try and find something of a similar price and standard over Silom first.

We've stayed at the Grand China several times now, this time our room was much smaller than usual and we had loud neighbours (TV) ..... but otherwise we had a very pleasant stay as always!
Much smaller room than we have had in past years - able to hear neighbours talking loudly next door and what was on the TV. Particulary impressed with the hotel's attempt to reduce unnecessary washing of bed linen and towels. Convenient for us to shop in China Town. We loved our breakfasts! Something for everyone in the Grand China complex. Not so good for public transport - although taxis and tuk tuks no problem. concierge always friendly. Pool was a bit small.
It's a taste of luxury for us, that we otherwise couldn't afford

We stayed twice at Grand China Princess. The first time we got two rooms at the 20th floor. We had a great view over Bangkok. The rooms were perfect for us. Everything was clean, bathroom was new and bed was great. The breakfast was good. You could choose european breakfast buffet or chinese breakfast. When we came back three weeks later to stay one night again we got a room in the 16th floor. The bathroom was older but everything was fine as before.

This hotel has a terrible receptionist who knows nothing but collecting money irresponsibly from a foreign guest. They have big problems in understanding and conveying messages in English. To make it worse, the Duty Manager is only around at a certain hours. You could practically have no chance to load a complaints or concerns. I will never go back to stay in this hotel. They charged me extra bath 500 for bringing in a messager ( introduced through this hotel as well ) while this messager only stayed for less than 25 minutes in the room doing this service. Afterwards, they tried to charge me bath 20 per page for printing a document. A page of L4 white paper cost bath 20 per page in Thailand??? This hotel is not serius in taking a concern or a complaint, they simply do not care. Stay away for this good for nothing hotel!

Hotel is located in the heart (main street) of Chinatown which is always very busy... and extremely polluted! If travelling by taxi, be prepared to be stuck in traffic jams, day and night. Close to the main attractions. Walking distance from the Chao Phraya river (taxi boat & ferry pier), but a little far from the the closest metro station. Very good breakfast (amazing pancakes!!!) and very good chinese restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was a little small but clean and confortable.

The hotel standard is very high and is comparable to that of a four star hotel at a price far below that standard. So it is good value for money. We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago. The triple room we had booked and paid for many weeks ago was not available. Instead we we were squashed in a double room. The place is looking tired and in need of maintainence. The pool was filthy. The hotel is in an interesting location in Chinatown and that is it's appeal. We would not stay there again.

The hotel is in the China town area and it is very convenient to find exotic local Thai food or Chinese food. The seafood there is very fresh and well prepared with local spices. The wonderful thing is the food is reasonably priced.

Breakfast was exceptional but we were disappointed with the pool which was very small and very cold. Breakfast had an excellent array of types of food for all tastes. The best I have encountered yet. Hotel location is a little out of the way.

I enjoyed my stay in Grand China Princess Hotel in Bangkok. The staff and bell boys were very friendly and the entertainments in Lounge and bar were fantastic. However, the hotel should provide newspapers to each room guests so that they don't have to share the newspapers with other guests in the lobby. Overall conclusion of this hotel is that the hospitality of this hotel is excellent and it is safe and quiet when staying in the hotel.
