Best-selling hotels
Your Top Choices
by Michelle Leksman
If you've ever wondered which of our thousands of hotels are most popular among our customers, here's your chance to find out. Discover which hotels fellow travellers are choosing to stay in. Chances are you may even have booked one of the hotels yourself. Work out why certain hotels come up tops. It could be the amazing price, the great location or the excellent customer reviews; in many cases, it is all three! Keep a record of some of the hotels that appeal to you - they might just be perfect for your next trip.
Bangkok, with its fabulous shopping, nightlife and sightseeing, remains one of our most popular destinations. Our top-selling hotel in the city is the three-star Swiss Park Hotel. Located in popular Sukhumvit Road only two minutes walk from the nearest skytrain station, it is perfectly placed for holidaymakers, business travellers and conference-goers. Besides its comfortable rooms and dining outlets, it also has a sauna and a lovely outdoor swimming pool. The Swiss Park exemplifies the type of hotel many travellers desire: comfort, location and affordability.
Our second most popular hotel in Bangkok is another good value three-star hotel in Sukhumvit Road, the Manhattan. Several deluxe air-conditioned shopping malls are within a few minutes walk of the hotel, making it a great choice for avid shoppers. In third spot is an innovative hotel in the Silom nightlife and business area named Room@Silom. Beside the usual hotel services, this one offers an incredible range of facilities - a 25-metre swimming pool, tennis court, a basketball court, a fitness centre, hydro pool and a sauna.
While these affordable hotels have won a loyal following, some of the city's top five-star hotels have also become very popular due to their incredibly affordable rates. Two of the top sellers are the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and Towers, which lies on the Chao Praya River, and the legendary Dusit Thani hotel, which is located in the Silom area with views of Lumphini Park. The Dusit Thani is perfectly located close to skytrain and metro stations.
One of the most popular leisure choices is the superb Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa, which lies on the river in a tropical garden setting. A world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is easily reached by taxi boat and skytrain. You can even take a cruise up the river in the hotel's own teak cruiser. It makes a perfect sunset excursion.
Another of our very popular destinations is Hong Kong, where visitors can choose to stay on either side of the harbour, in Kowloon or in Central on the main island. The two top sellers are in the Central district. In top place is the the four-star South Pacific Hotel, a landmark high-rise hotel located at the junction of Wanchai business district and Causeway Bay.
In second place is L' Hotel Causeway Bay Harbour View, a stunningly modern four-star hotel with a rooftop harbour-view swimming pool. Both these hotels are located close to the MTR rail link to the rest of Hong Kong, making them great choices for those who intend to move around the city.
The top-selling hotel on the Kowloon side is the luxurious Renaissance Kowloon Hotel, which offers great accommodation in a spectacular setting. Located in the Tsimshatsui's shopping and entertainment district, it is a quick MTR subway ride to central Hong Kong. Just down the road is Hong Kong's most famous hotel, the five-star Peninsula, which is popular with guests wanting the very best the city can offer. Whether you stay at the Renaissance or the Peninsula, you can take advantage of the great shopping and markets on busy Nathan Road and the many tourist attractions in Kowloon.
Bangkok and Hong Kong may be the most popular destinations with our travellers, but many other hotels across the globe are proving to be hot hits with customers. In London, our top-selling hotel is the Royal National, located just a few minutes stroll from the British Museum in Bloomsbury. A long-time favourite of visitors to the British capital, it has almost become a destination in itself, with bars, a range of restaurants, a bowling alley, a health club and even an ATM in the foyer. Another popular choice in lovely London is the St Giles Hotel, which offers clean, affordable rooms close to the Tottenham Court Road tube station.
One of the European hotels listed among our top sellers is the Expo Hotel in Valencia, Spain. A three-star hotel, it is located in the Nuevo Centro shopping district, only 1 km from Congress Palace. In Helsinki, the Sokos Hotel Presidentti has proved to be a very popular choice. Newly refurbished, it has a casino and is located in the commercial centre of the city.
In Cairo, international brand name hotels were the most popular. They were the Golden Tulip Hotel Flamenco, the Novotel Cairo Airport Hotel and the Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel. In Mumbai the Fariyas Hotel was one of the top choices, while in Rio de Janeiro the most popular hotel was the Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort. Other sought-after hotels around the globe were New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania, the Ibis Sydney Airport Hotel and the Holiday Inn Paris Bastille.
A handful of airport hotels in Europe have proved to be as popular as their city centre counterparts. One of the most sought-after overnight choices is the three-star HN Vienna Airport Hotel, located close to the Vienna International Airport and the World Trade Centre of Vienna. Another popular airport hotel is the elegant and stylish four-star Hilton Rome Airport Hotel, which is located at Fiumicino Airport.
Other popular Asian hotels are the Grand Hotel in Taipei, a Chinese palace style building alongside the Cheng Chiang Lake; the Ginza Capital Hotel in Tokyo, located in the heart of the popular Ginza shopping area and the Concorde Inn Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.
In Singapore, two hotels have won the support of most of our clients. The first is the Orchard Hotel, which is perfectly located in the city's prime shopping district, Orchard Road. Running a close second is Swissotel The Stamford, which lies in the marina area, overlooking the harbour, opera house and skyscrapers of the business district. In Manila, the Bayview Park Hotel is selected by the most number of travellers.
The most popular resorts in Asia included the Deevana Patong Resort & Spa in Phuket, the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa in Bali, the Phi Phi Island Cabana Island Hotel on Phi Phi island and the luxurious island retreat near Phuket, the Racha.
