The hotel is strategically located. Everything is within walking distance (5 mins walk to the MRT Station, back alley My Home Steak Restaurant, 7-11 & a 24 hrs store opposite and 2 streets away to Ximen Ting aka Ximen Tu Pu Jie and most importantly near hospitals and opposite a Primary School). The facilities in the room are very hotel-liked and user-friendly. E.g. Hot and cool water taps dispenser and a 114 Channels Television. To top it off, the hotel offers free internet usage (only 1 PC though found in the basement cafe). The only shortcoming I feel, would be the telephone charges (i.e. l...

i like the water dispenser in the room, you'll always have clean drinking water at all times, both hot and cold. Reception staff is polite and helpful. Bed is comfy, especially the soft quilt. Need to walk abit of a distance to the metro station though, abt 8min walk. Room is not sound proof, very disturbing in the morning when neighbours close their doors. Breakfast at shop beside hotel is gd!

It's my 2nd time back at Taipei and I still choose this hotel. It may not be the most wonderfully furbished, but it has a great location, away from the noisy streets, yet near enough to walk over. Near the train station, Freego bus stops right in front of the hotel, excellent concierge. Generally very good for this price point.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. I best likes the front desk staff for being so friendly, efficient and helpful. They assisted us by calling for us asking the addresses of some places that we need to go. They will also show us how to go places. I would really come back nest time I come Taipei and recommend it to friends and relatives.

I liked the location, staff service. However, the room is very old and dusty. No window, and the toilet bowl auto flush frequently from 3am to 6am.

there is actually no sound proofing and we can hear other people opening and closing door, and sometimes even smoking. bed is somehow abit too small and will over my leg if i lie jus normal, (btw i am 1.75m tall). overall, the room is cosy and nice, staff there are very friendly, including the house keeping, and they will recommend areas to visit and even on how to get cheap and nice stuffs!! overall give them 4stars!! hotel near shopping areas and cinemas. near train station. sometimes they never clean the dust bin, however they will make the room clean and tidy. very good choice for budget travellers like us. good service, great location,

It was my first trip to taiwan & i'm hooked! First impression of the hotel was amazing! Hotel staffs were very warm & friendly and accessiblility to Ximen Ding and the train station is only 5min walk! Facility & cleanliness was excellent!
Facilities are very well maintained. Beds & toilet are very clean. We were busy exploring the city, we do not have time for any of the hotel facilities!
Hotel staffs are were very friendly & warm. We had this problem of voltage issue with one of our electronics item and they were ever so helpful to go all their way out to address our concern! We were busy exploring the city, we do not have time for any of the hotel restaurant! Rooms were cleaned up every day. Toilet is amazing clean... No stains.. etc Lobby is well maintained and well lighted.
Tv programmes were packed with our favourite chinese talk shows and also, MTVs! Definitely! Considering the location and cleanliness... and also, hotel staffs' positive attitude! Only 5mins walk to Ximending and also the train station! 7 eleven is only across the street! Buses and trains are very easily accessed from the hotel. No worries at all!

The room might be a little small but it is still cosy to stay in. Cleanliness of the room is always well maintained as and when requested. The one thing I liked most would be the staffs there. They are very friendly and helpful towards the customers. A recommended place if you travelling with a tight budget.

Very thin doors and no windows... given the room cost, not a real bargain at all! Place is clean, anyway. Not very near to underground station, yet easy to reach by taxi, a short ride from Taipei Train Station.

If you are looking a nice and clean place to have a nice shower/bath and a decent sleep for couple hours after your busy and sometime exhausting exposure to Taipei. It is the place for you, especially if you are energetic and love shopping, testing, and nightlife.
The hotel is old and small, but it offers a nice and clean place to stay, with comfortable bed, over 100 Channels TV, clean bathroom (it also provides toothbrush, toothpaste, and razor), hot & cool water taps, free internet, free breakfast and friendly staff. The hotel is just 2 blocks away from famous place - Ximen Ting which has many cinemas, shops, restaurants and nights markets. So I were able to keep me busy in Ximen Ting and spend a quiet time in the hotel. The bus stop is at the front of the hotel and Ximen Ting MRT Station is just in a few minutes walking distance.
The only problem was smoking. Smoking rate may be still very high in Taipei and I smelled strong cigarette smoking in the corridor and the first day in my room. Otherwise, I were totally satisfied with the quality of the service and had a very enjoyable time there.

Basically, the location is rather convenient to 'xi meng ting' and that's all. The level of so called 'friendliness' among the front desk staff is extremely superficial. They always acknowledge your problem but were not able to help to solve our problem. There were four of us occupying two rooms. It was so happen that one of them fell sick and the other friend who was sharing the room with him had to move to our room so that he won't get the virus from him. When we asked for extra bed,the replied was that there wasn't any bed left. We tried asking for extra quilt to use it as a cushion for him to sleep on the floor and the replied was also the same. They were not at all helpful at all and not to mention they will give constructive suggestions. This happen not only once but three times. I almost wanted to move to another hotel but unfortunately it was already prepaid for. We swear that we'll not stay in this ugly hotel anymore. It was a very bad experience with them.

The location is really near to the MTR. The service staffs were polite although there were some misunderstanding when we first arrived at the hotel. Need to bring laptop along if you're going for holiday, these would be the place to have free wireless broadband. Lan wires are provided. Room have a water cooler installed. So having to cook cup noodles was easy or any needs of hot water is provided. But in the night, the cooler makes creepy water droplets sound. But its fine after all. Breakfast might be able to get it from any fastfood restaurants around the area or the local chinese dishes. Would love to go back to stay if i were to travel back to Taiwan.

The hotel management may also consider revising the difference in weekend room charges for walk-in personnels. Otherwise, I'm pretty satisfied. My GF & I had a pleasant stay here. The staff here is fantastic!

Everything was good. High water pressure, hot bathing water, bath tub, cold air con, clean room/bed. Many TV channels, personal water cooler with hot/cold water to drink. Friendly helpful staff. Only thing bad was no breakfast provided, hotel doesn't have its own restaurant.

We stayed here after reading the reviews of many hotels. We were not after luxury, but wanted a decent place, and most importantly be a couple blocks walking distance to Ximenting, and the MRT so we could go to the night markets. The Royal Castle is a good place to stay for this. The room is nice, but you can here the noise from the hall, fortunately there was very little. Staff could speak English and this was helpful. Most importantly, the location is great! Quick walk up the street is Ximenting - place is alive! MRT right at corner of Ximenting as well. Shinling night market is not as good as expected, but the Snake alley night market to the south is fantastic and vibrant. I will stay at the Royal again if I go back to Taipei.

Location is only 3 blocks away from Ximending, very convenient. The hotel room was decently sized for Asia rooms. Nice and clean. Think they also rent rooms by the hour b/c we saw some sketchy young couples but otherwise would definitely recommend this hotel for the price and convenience.

Room's lighting is too dim. Quite eerie staying alone. Red lighting on wall decor is quite discomforting. Door don't seem secure. After 10pm, the stretch near the hotel is quite quiet and don't feel safe. A little over-priced as a newer and more comfortable hotel near the Taipei main station charges a little less. I chose Royal Castle due to good reviews but was disappointed with what I got.

The best thing about this hotel is the location: Near enough to XiMenDing for shopping needs, yet far enough to be quiet and peaceful should you need to rest. The room I was in was clean but had obviously seen better days -- Furniture was old and air smelt slightly musty. Carpet was grubby and faded but they provide disposable slippers, so it's still alright. For the location, the price is very reasonable. Worth considering.
