Pasquale from United States stayed in a Golden dragon room for 2 days.
Great Hotel with an amazing flair, the location is not 100% but since Taxis are cheap it does not really make a differences and in 10 min you get to city center or 101
Please be patient…

Good access from and to the airport. Not close to the city center but OK if you use a taxi which is very cheap. Hotel staff are very organized.Hotel Facilities

The hotel was quite old, and the air conditioner was poor enough to drop dew on the wall. There was no luxurious atmosphere, so I think It wasn't worth to be ranked 4 star.Hotel Facilities

This a highly atmospheric hotel built in the Chinese Palace style. The foyer is impressive with a spectacular orchid flower centrepiece. We origianlly booked a Deluxe mountain view but upgraded to a Deluxe city view as orginal room overlooked the roof - not exactly mountain view ! Great facilities though (Olympic pool 5m deep, tennis courts etc.) but pool unheated.Hotel Facilities

While the hotel is not located downtown or walking distance to most of the things to do in town, its use of a shuttle bus to get clients to the great Taipei public transportatiion system makes up for it. Great place to stay.Hotel Facilities

The Grand Hotel is a magnificent building, grand structure designed to recreate feeling of ancient chinese palace, it is located away from the center of action in the north of town. Some will find this to be a downside. However we felt that the facility offered benefits that no other hotel in Tapei can offer. The pool is a
full olympic sized pool in a magnificent setting, fantastic for serious swimmers and kids, the hotel is located st the base of a mountain that offers hiking trails and magnificent views of the city. for nature lovers this is the only facility in taipei that offers this possibility. The rooms are substantially larger than newer hotels. We planned to use this hotel because of its proximity to attractions in the norterrn part of the city(the palace museum, shi lin market, bei tou and dan sui) We later moved to the Howard in the center of town for activities in the eastern and western sector. We regretted moving, we sacrificed significantly in comfort. For about $5 US / day we could have taxied from the grand to the center of town. But, if yo need to be constantly arond action, this would not be the place for you. A.so, you need to walk a few minutes to the outside pool because it is located in a separate club facility, but for me the pool is well wort the work. This hotel is best for nature lovers, people wo want to mix relaxation (hiking & swimming) with other activities and who appreciate the feel of a place that was built to impress heads of state with the grandure of Cinese arcitecture. It is ot for someone wo wants to walk out the door and be in the center of actionHotel Facilities

Like most: nice hotel with beautiful classical asian structure.
Like least: hotel does not have the ram to pull your luggage smoothly from level 3 down the stair to the room; the bus boy did use a cart to load your luggages, then pulled this cart down these steps on the stair that made a lot of noise from your luggates to be jumped up and down (especially if your luggage is a laptop so that you should bring it with you). Old building with it was clean with nice view.
Clerks and staffs are ready to help if you ask. Location seem to be isolated with high way around the building so that it is hard to walk to the city. However, one can take advantage of free shuttle bus to the subway (train) that goes out and back every 1/2 hour. Taxi is alway ready; shuttle bus in every 1/2 hour; bus to airport is easy to get appointment but the latest schedule is 7:20 PM (that might not be convenience for people that has departure time late at night).Hotel Facilities

This is an excellent hotel and I have stayed at it 3 times. It is not walking distance to many places (exception is Martyr's Monument), but city bus comes to the door, and you can go to/from airport by city bus. Taxis are cheap in Taipei, so that covers potential inconvenience. Concierge is great, with lots of helpful suggestions. The economy rooms are small, but impeccably clean and well outfitted. Restaurants have good selection, and food is well prepared. The lobby alone is worth half of the price. But in addition, there are several tourist shops - it is not necessary to leave the hotel to buy tourist trinkets. I feel comfortable leaving my suitcases with the bell captain (which I have done several times.) It gives me a good feeling to stay at the Grand Hotel, and I will again on next trip.Hotel Facilities

A beautiful hotel with a good bit of history. It is a good choice for those who do not speak Chinese because you can just point to a picture of the landmark hotel to any cab driver and he can take you there. The hallways and my room smelled a little musty, but my visit was during the rainy season. Overall, I was very satisfied with the room and service.Hotel Facilities
